There are some two prong outlets that do have grounding (you can tell by the different sized plugs), but given what a surge protector is suppose to do, plugging it into a 3 prong outlet will have an affect on how well it would work.

And also it would affect how well it will stay in the wall too. 3-to-2 prong converters suck for staying plugged in properly.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
