The Tragically Hip!

So - I figured it was about time to have a thread devoted to The Hip - because as you must know - they are fucking phenomenal!

Ice Hockey, Maple Syrup, and The Tragically Hip. After 20 years of mind-blowing music - The Hip are Canada's band. In thier songs they sing about hockey, from the '72 summit series, to Bill Barilko of the Maple Leafs. Thier songs are also stories of Canadian Heritage - Wheat Kings, and Bobcaygeon are perfect examples.

I was recently fortunate enough to go see The Hip live - in an audience of about 200 (less probably) for a special taping of The Hour with George Strombonopolous. They rocked out with a bunch of songs from thier new album World Container - In View, Kids Don't Get It, World Container, Family Band, Yer Not the Ocean, and then a classic, Music @ Work. It was a phenomenal concert - Gord Downie is an execellent performer - and a really funny guy! He was even jumping around with me for a bit (I was standing in the front row behind Johhny Fey, so when Gord D turned around, he saw me jumping up and down (I was the only one in our section) and started jumping with me!


But yeah - I fucking LOVE The Hip - And I hope that there are others out there that share my love affair. I'll hopefully have thier discography on my FTP later today.
