I have to say I think there's probably some greater power out somewhere so I'm not really an atheist or an agnostic. That being said, I think religions are useless. It seems to me that when it comes to morals secular humanism makes the most sense. I suppose I might be considered a anti-denominational monotheist, to make up a phrase.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No, polytheism is belief in multiple gods. What your talking about is called henotheism, which is what many people see Hinduism as. Your point is still valid, just a vocabulary correction.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

JackyBoy, I don't want to start a debate here, but I'd enjoy hearing a 1-post summation of your thoughts on this book review: http://www.lrb.co.uk/v28/n20/eagl01_.html .
I haven't read the book in question, but it seems that the author of this review is painting atheists with as broad strokes as he accuses Dawkins of using to paint religious types. It's impossible for anyone (except maybe an agnostic?) to write an unbiased review of a book like this.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You mean besides the senseless bombings in the name of Allah the Almighty? Or the corruption of morals by allowing people to pay the church to forgive their sins? What about all the religious wars?
Don't kid yourself about religious wars. There has never been a war about religion, it is only used as justification or propaganda. Wars are fought over land, money, or the balance of power. That's it.

For christ's sake, kinkymagic, this guy's a lost cause. Just take away his soapbox and stop arguing already.
