Are you wanting to multi-track (aka, seperate control of instruments AFTER the performance), or are you thinking a stereo recording (aka, control of instruments ONLY at performance)? I assume stereo recording, and what equipment are you planning on recording them with (PC, CDRecorder, MiniDisc, other)?
If only PC, then just send a line-in signal and you can use windows sound recorder. If you want to edit, you'll have to probably buy a program (or Torrent one). I've got a free simple program called YAMP that can record but not edit. I have a old program called Cool Edit 2000, that has been hacked and cracked to pieces. I'm sure you could find one of those somewhere... Like I said, if you want something that edits wave files, I don't know of any free program that does so in a non-linear way (i.e. you look at the wav file and edit it). If you do find one, let me know what it is. But spending $20-40 for a program is probably a good idea. So find one that you like, link it here, and I'll check it to see that it has all you need.
