Do you want a standard DVD disc (that can play in generally ALL DVD players?), or do you want a disc that will work with your specific DVD player/Computer/Laptop? This difference changes what you can do drastically.
Mostly, I would recommend only 2 movies per standard DVD disc (assuming you only copy the movie, no menus). Otherwise, the quality and bitrate will be far too low for either your DVD player, or viewing pleasure. You can do this very easily with a program called "DVD Shrink 3.2" but another more recent program that may work for this as well (haven't tried it) is "DVDFab Decrypter". Search for either of these on doom9.org or just google them.
BTW, You could potentially fit 4 movies (comfortably) on a dual-layer DVDDL, but this might make it not work in most DVD players.
