Search Google for Haali Media Splitter... Or find a Media Player Classic ver 6.4.9.0

Either of these will give your comp the ability to *play* MP4 files but not necessarily the video or audio inside the MP4 file. For that, I recommend FFdShow for its ease of use, high customizability, great quality, and ability to uninstall easily.
