One summer event would bring junior high school student Michishio Nagasumi's peaceful life crashing down.

While visiting his hometown, he almost drowns but Seto San, a mermaid, saves his life. However, her family is part of a merfolk mafia, and they abide by a strict rule: If a mermaid is discovered by a man, either he dies, or the mermaid dies. The only exception is if the man becomes a member of the family. When Nagasumi is threatened to either die or join the family, he comes to the conclusion that he must marry San.

If you like Hayate the combat butler and haven't watched this yet, watch it now.
This reminded me a lot of Hayate but it still has its own originality in its own sense. The Mermen Mafia and the leader bring a lot of suffering to the main character and he has to find ways to survive the engagement while trying to avoid the little assassin that Seto carries with her.
The animation is very quirky as the faces and expressions on the characters change like something out of Golden Boy, the opening shows a good example of all of that.

So far I'm really enjoying this series and plan to stick with it till the end, every episode is funnier than the last. With this anime, Hayate, Darker than black, and heroic Age I'm glad 2007 is giving us so many good shows to fill my hard drive with.

Ok huge fucking bump but the series was just so damn awesome and now the heavens have decided to spit down an OVA for this series and I have to say that this thing is full of so much fucking win I don't know where to start.
The bruce willis references, fist of the north star, delinquents, dbz. So many effing choices. If you loved this series, this ova will break you in laughter, go watch it now!
