This has little to do with how much of the game we played, and more with how the game itself plays.

I know where your coming from, but your getting bad controls mixed up with complex controls.
If I play a flight simulator, or even a game like Gears of War, I dont go in expecting to know what every button does, or how to use them, but after I learn what each does I should be able to fluently use them during the game without having to worry about overshooting, unresponsive buttons, or over sensitive controls.
A game like Sonic has you constantly compensating for their terrible design. This is what your referring to as "getting used to it."
