Frustrating / Crying / "NOOOO!" Video Game Moments
I'm sure we've all had moments in our personal video game history where you couldn't beat a certain part of a game no matter how close you got. Or when a save game gets erased, or when something of your gaming property gets destroyed. Lets highlight those times you were in tears, or about to thrash a room apart because of how aggrivated / sad you got because of the event.
Here are some of my stories. Getting the invincibility cheat in Goldeneye by beating the Facility in what was it... under 1:08? I must'v tried it probably a hundred times or more. I remember as a 12 or 13 year old kid I was pouting after dying for like the 50th time. It was an emotional moment. Eventually I got it, and it became a lot more easier to do. Side straffe speed boost anyone? I watched my like 4 year old nephew take the Lunar: Silver Star Story making of CD out of the PSX and immedietely take a BITE OUT OF THE DISC. He chomped the mutha-fuckin' disc! "SHANE! WHAT? NOOOO" Now I can never play Lunar:SSS pong again... =( I was my buddies place when I was like 13-14, I brought over FF7 and he had started a file. I was playing on his file for a while, and you know how you go to save the game while casually playing, you hit 'X' a shit load, usually ignoring the "Are you sure you would like to overwrite this file?" Well, because I was on his file I skipped all that and the cursor was defaulted to my file. And well, I erased my OWN FF7 file, like 39 hours in, before I had finished the game. This was tragic, and brought me to pouting, and having to excuse myself into my friend's bathroom for a few moments to vent some frustration out. It was tragic because I had had my file erased before that, too! So I had to play through about 20 hours of the game 3 times to finally finish the game. Completely crazy. My nephew strikes again. He got into video games at an early age, so he was playing some Crash Bandicoot on the PSX, he just goes HOGWILD saving Crash Bandicoot files on the memory card that I used to hold my Xenogears file. Somehow he overwrote my Xenogears file with like 13 different Crash Bandicoot files, What the fuck! And get this, I was at the fucking END OF THE FUCKING XENOGEARS! Like, the very fucking end! And my file gets erased. To make a somewhat long story short, in response to this event I sent an internet friend I know who had the Save-state utility for PSX my memory card in a regular letter, which was a kinda dumb idea using a regular letter to put a memory card in. I had him get a save-state from this dude on Gamefaqs who archived his save states as he played through the game. I got my memory card back, nearly flattened by the irregular postage I chose, in a plastic bag of Canadian postage warning. The end-game save file this guy at gamefaqs had was SO BOGUS. He had like the weakest characters, beating the final boss was FUCKING INTENSE. God... So, how about you guys / gals? Hope a topic like this hasn't been created... like, in the last 6 months? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() In your dreams, magical thoughts All things are real, unless you dream they're not

To all the people who have lost FF7-data where they have done almost everything and maxed it out on 99:99 minutes or whatever. I don't think that's really as big a deal as losing data before you even beat the game, which happened to me twice! Think of it this way, the legend of your maxed out save data has to die at some point. You've got to move on and accept that you had fun, and your save file has gone to a better place...
Besides, if it's something like FF8 data-maxed out- it's like whoopdee freakin-do, I can't go to any of the towns because they're locked out by dark energy or whatever. I forgot why, but why on hell would Squaresoft lock out the towns at the end of the game, when you have to fucking get a chocobo to get the ragnarok, and do all that freaking ragnarok in-ship madness! YOU REMEMBER IT DON'T YOU? And then they don't even let you visit the old towns. LAME. Okay, I'm just a little peeved about that. I, for one also lost my maxed out FF7 data, but it was only a big deal because then I couldn't show it off to people or whatever. Haha. And man, the Lunar games difficulty is scaled so well, it makes most boss battles really intense, especially the final bosses! Wow, amazing stuff. It also seems everyone has dealed with shitty third party memory cards, LOL! They are the worst. I had this one that held like 50 pages of blocks of memory, and you flipped through pages by pressing a button on the card itself while you read data on the PSX. Incidentally, pushing that button wiggled the memory card in its place, causing all data to vanish every now and then if you're not EXTRA careful. Granted, all I had on it was some Mega Man Legends data and some other stuff, I usually used it as a backup. I tried it again and it didn't even FUNCTION. Stupid things. I thought of something else. In Star Ocean 2, in bigger sized dungeons, exclusively the cavern where you get the herb for Bowman, and in the Cave of Trials, the game often liked to JUST FREEZE FLAT OUT. Thanks a lot Star Ocean 2. I swear, that herb cave is cursed or some shit. The Cave of Trials would often too get disc read errors. I think I've heard other people experience this, too, am I right? But man it's the worst when it happens in the Cave of Trials... but really it's okay, because if you're die-hard Star Ocean 2 fan, you don't even care, you want to get to the bottom of that dungeon. You really do. I think it's fair to mention Super Ghouls and Ghosts too... Capcom makes you want to kill yourself because you can't kill the two ogre-fucks with the shit-fuck weapon on the second playthrough. My friend got more pissed than me that I couldn't do it with 33 lives to spare! Jesus Christ! I think he was going to burst a vein. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() In your dreams, magical thoughts All things are real, unless you dream they're not
