Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I actually got quite overwhelmed at the sheer amount of text in Death Note when I first read it. Some of the logic was a bit tough to grasp, too.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
![]() The poster's quite simple. I like it. The trailer does seem to imply that this is going to be your standard-fare horror movie. It's good, but it just seems to be a bit misleading. Double Post: Apparently, Misa's cropped up on the side of a bus. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Wow. I'm pretty impressed by the trailer. Can't wait to see the full scene where Naomi holds the gun to her head.

It appears that Dani California's not going to be the only song featured in Death Note. I checked out Suga Shikao's site on a whim just now and found information on a new single of his to be released on June 21. Apparently it's going to be an insert song for the movie. The song itself is titled "Manatsu no Yoru no Yume" (A Midsummer Night's Dream), which happens to have the same title (though not necessarily the exact same kanji reading) as the xxxHOLiC movie.
Go go Suga Shikao! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I wouldn't be surprised to see an anime adaptation of Death Note, but for some reason I like the idea of it being a movie better than it being an anime series. EDIT: According to the Weekly Shounen Jump issue 24 table of contents, Death Note really is receiving an anime adaptation. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'm just kidding, of course. Or maybe it'll just be a Death Note fighting game. "L vs. Rem! Round 1, FIGHT!" This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

I think that promotional still is just to get us anxious for Ryuk. I have no doubt that Ryuk's going to get some good screen time in the movie, as evidenced by the Manatsu no Yoru no Yume PV. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

There was a new DN trailer aired on Japanese TV (?). It's pretty much just a longer version of the previous trailer, except this time there's a lot more Ryuk.

A making-of was uploaded onto Youtube in two parts. It's unsubbed.

I found a nifty little synopsis on someone's LJ. You can read it here, but be warned: spoilers abound.
Some neat little tidbits: - The movie runs around two hours and twenty minutes. - If you don't like original characters, you're not going to like Shiori very much. - The movie really only goes through the first volume and then a little bit of volume two, as evidenced by various clips and trailers. I gave in and read some of the Shiori-related stuff, and while I feel like she's still a sorta cheap cop-out to pad out the movie, I have to hand it to the filmmakers: damn.
