Holy crap. The packaging of the OST alone might persuade me to purchase it.

Speaking of the music, the PV for Kiss Me Good-Bye was recently aired. The single version of the song, however, is in Japanese, not English. The version of the PV that was aired wasn't even the full version of the PV; there's no way that Kiss Me Good-Bye can be only a little under four minutes long, Japanese or not.

It's a great indication of what the English version might sound like, though. Enjoy.

I'm in love with Symphonic Poem "Hope" after watching that trailer. I remember I heard the last part of the trailer in a previous trailer and hoped that it would be from Symphonic Poem "Hope." I guess I was right.

That Potion commercial is hilarious. Its comical nature multiplies for me since I recognize the actor in the commercial.

Change is good. That's all I'll say for right now.

And as for the similarity between FFXI's and FFXII's battle systems, well, if you really hate the battle system, you can always play the game in Wait Mode. I kind of see MMORPG-like attributes present in the battle system, but I don't find it impact the game negatively at all. In fact, it makes things more exciting.

I actually think the summons are pretty cool. It's refreshing to see something new rather than the same old Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, etc.

As far as I remember, the Japanese covers have always been just the logo of the FF. The American covers usually use some sort of character art or some cheesy-looking character cut-and-paste thing.

Emo fanboy much?

The only contribution Nobuo Uematsu made to the FFXII soundtrack was the vocal theme, Kiss Me Good-Bye, which he wrote the music for. (The lyrics were written by the vocalist, Angela Aki.)

...FF fanboy much?

I think the main FF franchise has been due for a kickstart for awhile now. The formula's gotten old and worn out. I love the fresh look and feel of FFXII. It's just new. I think I might've turned a blind eye to FFXII up until the game's stateside release had it contained the traditional FF staples. That's how bored I am with the franchise.

And that includes Uematsu's music. Don't get me wrong, I love Uematsu's music to death, but attaching his name to every FF in existence is a little over-the-top.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Sounds outstanding.
The accents add a neat little feel to the game. I wanted to hear Balthier's voiceover the most, but the voice samples on Gideon Emery's site satisfy my curiosity.

Fran sounds little iffy, but maybe it's just the quality of the recording. Penelo sounds far younger than I expected.

Would you say this is just an NPC? Perhaps I should PM one of the guys in the spoilers thread to check this out, because I don't want to venture in there, yet.

The following is not exactly spoilery, but hiding it away just in case...

Spoiler:
The characters are, in order, Vaan, Balthier, Fran, and Basch. I'd chalk up the presence of four people to an event battle, but I'm hardly a treasure trove of FFXII information.

They might add some gore to it, this is war, after all.
I think it's likely that they would be scenes pertaining to the violence in war. Frankly, I'm pleased that they would put this extra work into the NA release of FFXII.

Breaking news: a "friend" of mine (I'm only using that to keep things simple) just put in his away message that he has the game.

Quote:
Deffinately just got Final Fantasy XII today and it pwns your mom
He has no reason to lie about getting the game, so I suppose a local store around here was very nice to him.

EDIT: He just informed me that our local Best Buy sold him the game. Welp, so much for the 31st.

I'm assuming that since the Ashe cover that Simo posted had a close-up of her CG render that the Penelo cover has a close-up of her CG render, correct? I'm asking because I'd like to get the Balthier cover; all I'd have to do is look at the bottom for Balthier's legs.

But I went on to import the International+Last Mission version and enjoyed it even more with the English voice overs and added content, like the battle arena.

So I guess what I'm getting at, back on topic lol, is that it all comes down to taste. A majority of the people here seem to have hated DoC and X-2, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed...guess it's a sickness lol. But maybe I should look back earlier in this thread and take a look at all the good things that people said about FF12, I'm sure it will boost my excitement.
I enjoyed FFX-2 for what it was: a campy, comedic, completely-not-serious game that clearly wasn't meant to be a genre-defining entry in the Final Fantasy franchise. How else are you going to enjoy a game where there's an upbeat pop tune in the opening scene? I haven't played Dirge of Cerberus yet (and I probably won't pick it up until there's some convenient price reductions), so I can't say anything about its entertainment value.

Anyways, let's tackle the "Oh man, this game sucks" atmosphere that's been seeping into the thread. Despite all of the negative things people have said on here so far, I'm still going to go into the game with an open mind. I'm also fairly certain that I'm going to come away from the game with an enthused feeling along the lines of "Holy crap, this is one of the best RPGs I've ever played" not because it's Final Fantasy XII but because I have my own standards upon which I'll be judging the game against. I'm not an RPG junkie (which means I'm not interested in games like Tales of the Abyss or Valkyrie Profile 2) so my opinion may not necessarily matter to anyone else.

In short: just because someone else thinks highly of a game doesn't mean they need to have a counterclaim thrown at them at every turn about how so-and-so element of the game is bad.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
