Can anyone clarify me about that procession in the mountain? Long line of people in robes or what not and carrying candles but what about that woman kneeling? Some kind of cult of Kira?
Spoiler:
I expected Light's death from the very beginning when Ryuk said that he'd be the one to write down Light's name in the Note.

It seemed to me like a Cult of Kira, that's all.

Right you are. Dani California's presence in the movie extends as far as being included in the credits and that is that. Manatsu no Yoru no Yume, the "other song," appears in just one scene of the movie (as background music, I might add).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

A clip was uploaded onto Youtube from a show called Zoom In that went behind-the-scenes of filming for the 2nd movie, DEATH NOTE: the Last name.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlrEvFp5as8

It's not that revealing or spoilery, so eh. There's complete confirmation that Rem's in it, though, for those who aren't on the ball with the movies' take on things.

EDIT: DEATH NOTE beat The Da Vinci Code at the box office once again. I'm impressed.

The first ten minutes (or so) of the movie've been uploaded onto Youtube. There's nothing really amazing about the first ten minutes, so eh. It's a nice teaser, though.

How ya doing, buddy?

Kenji Kawai did the soundtrack for DN.

Actually, I prefer some of the "Hollywood movie music" to the Japanese scores. I usually go "Oh! That's a great song!" in a "Hollywood movie" and I usually don't remember anything from a Japanese movie's score.

I'm not entirely familiar with Ishida's body of work, but Romi Paku as L was not was I had in mind at all. And Shidou Nakamura won't be Ryuk for the anime? For shame. From the moment I heard Ryuk's line at the end of the first trailer, Nakamura was Ryuk for me.

This is gonna be weird.

I'm pretty sure I saw a scan which revealed that new female character's name, but I'm not sure if it was her.

If the movie manages to take the plot of DN and make it its own without going into the crummy Mello/Near stuff, then props to the producers.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You'd think that news like this would circulate faster.

Probably in anticipation for the release of DEATH NOTE: the Last name on November 3rd, DEATH NOTE will air on NTV on October 27th. Yep, you read that right. It's going to air on TV before getting a DVD release. The catch is that it's a director's cut, but what that entails isn't exactly clear. I'm certainly not complaining since I'm pretty sure it's going to air in HD.

There's two different raws for the movie (since it aired on NTV yesterday), one by Saiyaman and one available through DeltaAnime Torrents. I'm not sure on the specifics of the Saiyaman encode, but the one that DA has is in 1440 x 810 resolution.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I just finished watching the movie and it was great. Manga purists should probably stay away from the movie because it does end up omitting some things out (as well as inserting new things that don't seem to have any relevance at all) from what was originally in the manga, but overall I enjoyed the movie very much.

Spoiler:
Said manga purists probably hate the addition of Shiori into the movie, but after actually seeing her purpose in the movie, I thought that adding her character into the movie was a great move. It also showed just how despicable Light can be since he plainly confessed to Ryuk with a hint of a grin, "I killed Shiori, too." I mean, that plan he came up with to get rid of both Naomi and Shiori... good stuff.

The TV broadcast had a nice little clip from DEATH NOTE: the Last name at the end of the movie. Yay for Rem! You can watch the clip on YouTube.

The manga is over and it has only 108 chapters, so I'm assuming that the anime's going to adhere to the plot quite strictly.

One of the DN rules is as follows:

Even if you do not actually possess the DEATH NOTE, the effect will be the same if you can recognize the person and his/her name to place in the blank.

Raye's plan was to put in fake names since he, as previously stated, didn't think that Kira would be able to get access to the faces of his team. However, Raye himself knew the real names and faces of his team, so that's why his team died despite his putting in fake names.

The only thing is that you must know the true name of the person you want to kill and their face. So long as you have that person's face in mind when you write down their name--even if it is a fake one--then the Death Note will kill them. It's kinda like the DN senses your intent to kill.
