We've already had a doujin arrangement by ZTS place, "if it dies rather -short.rm-" in week 109. So, recalling that, I didn't have a problem with the current track from Sephiroth (which is a Touhou arrange album, not a game) when it was nominated last week.
However, I decided to look into it anyway now just to be certain, and it appears that I wasn't particularly diligent about checking up on him the first time. I can only find three composition credits: Parhelia (half the soundtrack, or 8 tracks), Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (4 tracks), and DJMAX Portable 2 (2 tracks). Everything else he's done, and there is quite a bit that he's done, is either a fan or official arrangement (pretty much all fan, but I did see an arrangement on the Glove On Fight OST). so yeah um right Assuming people think he shouldn't be eligible as a VGM composer, we can fix the problem of this week pretty easily by replacing the track with another nomination by Djinova (definitely if possible) or the next nomination in the queue (me! ). Week 109 is another matter. We have one precedent for letting a mistaken track remain on the site, Chapter 1: Feena ~ First Step Towards Wars ~ Palace from Symphony Ys. However, that was just a tabulation error and not the case of a track that shouldn't have been eligible in the first place, and it had been on the site for a very long time before it was noticed. I could pull it, in which case the Sapphire track would move to second and Shadow Devourer from Sword Maniac would move to third.Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I didn't really make it clear in my last post, but the track is not disqualified yet. I expect it will be, which is why I started thinking about what we should do if it has to be pulled, but "whether or not someone is a 'professional VGM composer' will be decided on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of SotW participants" need opinions etc. Djinova, mind coming up with a replacement if your current nom is ineligible?
Also, while you're all paying attention, the Best Doujin Contest is going to start voting soon. Should we do an SotW delay of some kind? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Three tracks are currently tied for first place. Need MOAR votes
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Okay, I'm tired of this.
RUNOFF VOTE Voting will close in 24 hours, so be swift! This will decide which track takes second and which takes third. (Thanks to Kaleb's votes, Sensation is this week's winner.) EDIT: This means that voting is closed. No new point spreads. How ya doing, buddy? |
And after the runoff, we have:
1). [19] Kukeiha Club pro-fusion ~Salamander~ - SENSATION 2). [18/12.5] The Curse of Monkey Island (Game Rip) - Main Titles 3). [18/12.5] Sega Tunes - ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron - Mellow Groove 4). [17] Sephiroth - Oriental Memory of Forgathering Dream ~phantasmagoria~ 5). [15] The Lunatic - Ibara Remix Tracks - Endress Train 6-t). [13/8.5] 19XX THE WAR AGAINST DESTINY - CAPCOM Game Sound Track - City light in the black strait Mission5 6-t). [13/8.5] Wizardry ~ Llylgamyn Saga - Fort City Llylgamyn 8). [7] Leander (Amiga Game Rip) - Intro Very even field this week. With this win, Kukeiha Club pro-fusion ~Salamander~ is the first casualty of the three-places rule, and so all future nominations from this album are hereby prohibited. I'm working on a disqualified nominations page right now that'll include this, Wild Arms/Phantasy Star stuff, etc. I'm not going to be able to do research and get the tracks together until Wednesday late afternoon/night. With the Best Doujin Contest looming, I see several options:
