Tracking exit links

At least I think that's what this http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/redirect-to/?redirect=url crud is for. All links in posts in view thread mode are converted to be forwarded through this redirect. It's only these, though; links in signatures, post previews, and journal entries work as normal.

The problem with this (in combination with opening new windows for links, perhaps) is that it ends up making Firefox 2.0 send blank referrers instead of Gamingforce ones. Play with http://www.quiteajolt.com/gff/refer.php; it'll show a Gamingforce referer if you put it in a post and preview it, but clicking it directly from this post should show nothing after "referer:."

This makes it kinda hard to make GFF-exclusive links.

Is this vitally important for some system (SEO, ads, etc.), or can the redirection be turned off?

EDIT: I've now discovered that the links in this post aren't redirected at all. It does happen to the links in this thread in My Stuff, though. That's weirder.

EDIT 2: Only links in private forums seem to be redirected: My Stuff, Audio Requests, Testing, etc.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
