I very unfair death I must add, but the console still got some 'post-mortem' games, it got 2 this year (Radirgy and Under Defeat) and a new one is scheduled to be lauched next month!! It's called Last Hope (what a fitting name) and it's a .... you guessed it! Yet another SHMUP!
EDIT: Also on NeoGeo AES and CD.

It's completely non-original. Micro Machines Military for MegaDrive (1996/released only on Europe) did the same thing on the party mode.

BORDER DOWN

Created by G.Rev, a company composed by former Taito employes that worked on the best PSX shmup G-Darius, also from Ikaruga and Under Defeat fame (BTW kudus to Elixir by mentioning both these games and Rez & JSRF). Its a horizontal shmup that focus more on shooting and dodging than anything else, there's no power ups, strange transformations or whatnot. Just plain shoots and a powerfull laser. Also as these are the same guys from Darius, this game also features various 'paths' called borders. I would explain the game further but it's 1AM here and Im sleppy, maybe tomotrow I'll go in details.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

ALIEN HOMINID

One of the wierdest games of the past generation is Alien Hominid, it plays just like Metal Slug but you are an yellow alien that was shot down and robbed by the FBI. It's for XBox (PAL), GC (NTSC-U), PS2 (Both regions) and a crappy GBA version. A Hi Defenition 720p version is planned for XBox 360 Live Arcade.
Graphics are all 480p resolution (that means no scaled up 320x240 sprites) handrawn with this strange style that resembles to a 10 yrs old kid drawing with a lot of jokes on the background. I don't play it that much because I don't like Metal Slug 1 bullets and you're dead gameplay, but you have enough lifes to finish it and you can continue from any completed level.
A very intresting game if you have in mind that this was Behemoth (the creators) first game and started as a flash game! And check this out -> Co-operative gameplay! Oh Yeah!
