The heated Rebar crossbow in Half-Life 2 is really satisfying. You've got the combine soldier in your sight, you don't press fire just yet. You've picked a stationary target just so you can savour the time spent looking through your sight at your mark, a grin on your face. You press fire and the first sensation of joy comes with the twang noise as the bar is catapulted forward. You arch backwards ever so slightly in your chair, as you become one with the rebar, feeling it glide through the air at a slight descent towards its target. The experience is only brought to a close when the bar hits its mark, causing the target to jolt violently backwards and become pinned to the wall behind, suspended. The climax being everything the build up might have hinted at. It's really quite. beautiful.
