We arrived at a park reserve in Kenya on an unclear day, so distant Kilimanjaro was invisible. I sort of had an image in my head of how high it would be - there was a long thin cloud in the distance which I could just imagine being about the right height of the mountains snow cap.
Anyway, later on we were talking to one of the guides and he mentions that Kilimanjaro was visible, so I look, still at the height of that cloud - couldn't see shit. Eventually he has to point, and I find my eyes craning upwards - Holy Shit. There it is, the snow cap, at least twice the height I imagined it would be. That was breathless. I couldn't stop looking its way for the rest of our stay there.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
