I'm lucky to get away with under 50 hours of work a week. I'm also a full-time student working toward my MBA. My life right now is pretty much, wake up, go to work, go to school, do schoolwork, sleep, repeat. Yes, sometimes I do wonder if it is worth it. Fortunately I'm getting a free ride through school though my company, unfortunately they are making sure they get their money's worth out of me.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

We're entitled to a 30 minute lunch after six hours of work in the US though we can also produce a written agreement with employers to forgo a lunch if we so desire.

But 40 hours is the 'typical' US work week 8am-5pm Monday-Friday with an hour lunch. However, a 50+ hour work week is actually more normal for your typical person on salary than a 40 hour work week these days in the US. Plus even then a lot of people bring their work home on top of that 50+ hours. There are also no laws here which set a maximum amount of time a person can work over here.

How ya doing, buddy?
