I dont know, I see this as a bit pointless. If you want to play SO2 on your PSP you can just play the PSX version of it on there. Whether you do it through illegal or legal means, you can play SO2 right now on your PSP.

So why buy a port when I can play it for free or buy it through Sony to play it on my PSP?

The only positive I see is the fact SO1 is being re-made and released.

As for SO4, hope they have a good storyline ready because after the disgrace of SO3 the whole Star Ocean universe and plot was destroyed.

How ya doing, buddy?

Yeah why pay for anything when you can get it for free? Just go to the store and take whatever you need.

*sigh* First Valkyrie Profile and now this oh and SOTN. And I hear PSP is pretty good at emulation...perhaps I should get one...
If you're so against the illegal side of things go buy SO2 through Sony and play it on your PSP.

Or if you own SO2 on the PSX already, copy it and convert it to a popstation file.

Both legal and let you play SO2 right now on the PSP.

As it's been said, it's more than just a port. Check the first post (edited) for some of the announced features. Fully voice acted, new characters, new designs... I bet they'll touch up a lot of the game's problems too (balance?)
I'm talking about SO2, not SO1. From what I've read they're just porting SO2 and adding a few things to it. I dont think that is enough to warrant buying SO2 again. Especially when I can already play my current copy on my PSP already.

EDIT: Okay, if it has a better translation then I'm interested. Especially for the voice acting. But I'm not holding my breath.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, if any of you wanted to play it on your TV that badly you could just get the new version of the PSP and use the video out cables. :/

I was speaking idiomatically.

Welcome to the world of gaming, where you have to buy a certain gaming device if you want to play a certain game you want. This is nothing new.

I really want to play Zelda and I have to buy a Wii to play it. If I want to play the next Ace Combat I need a 360. If I want Final Fantasy I got to go buy a PS3. Pokemon? Need a DS/Gameboy. It has always been that way... There's always going to be some game you want to really play but need a console you dont have.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I picked this up as well. I'm having a mad nostalgia rush here. It's not as good as SO2, but that game will always hold a special place in my heart. The voice acting is kind of meh, though. Then again, it's still better than SO2.

Well I've been playing Second Evolution so far and I have to say I'm impressed. The only problem I have is a silly one. The items and item creation are not in 3D like in the PSX version.

I don't understand why they would use 2D. It's not like the PSP cant handle it. If it can play the PSX version just find, why cant the remake have it too. I always liked those little 3d pictures for the items. :/

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Its the same way in First Departure and as best as I can work it out, its to save space (After all, in the original they only had battle quotes where as in here they have a lot of spoken dialogue).
Oh, I didn't even think about that. I guess that's understandable then. UMD discs are only around 1GB, aren't they? The PSX version was two discs so I can see how you would run out of space if you took the old game and slapped more audio in the game.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

What's this about the interface being different in the US version of Star Ocean 4? Apparently they also removed the anime portraits as well. Now they're 3D CG instead?

What the hell is the reasoning behind this? They redid Star Ocean 1 and 2 with all new anime portraits, and kept the interface on those the same. What the heck is the point of removing that stuff from Star Ocean 4..?

Alright, I just started playing and right in the beginning you're introduced to a character named Stephen D. Kenny. I had to do a double take at his last name. Could this be Ronyx's grand dad or something? The game is supposed to be a few centuries before SO1..

Looks like being at the top in the federation runs through the family blood..

Not sure if this needs spoiler tags or not, since it's right there when you start the game..

Also, the mouths not matching the voices IS annoying.

Another thing I am finding annoying is the fact that 5.1 surround sound on this game keeps reseting itself. I have to keep exiting the game, re-click dolby digital in system settings on my 360, and then restart the game to get 5.1 going again. It makes no sense because when the game reverts to stereo my receiver still shows "Dolby Digital" on its display.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
