There's any number of ways to justify it. It was still better as it was, though. Old Anakin looked like a benevolent ghost, whereas Hayden's ghost just makes me feel the same "note furrowed brows for anger" vibe I got from every moment of the prequel trilogy.

Yoda knew a technique of death that involved fading into the force, which he promised at the end of Episode III to teach Obi-Wan. Therefore, Obi-wan knew the technique during his death as well.
