Sakuraba fans might want to check out the intro here;

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/vp/

It's not much, but I think it sounds of the same style the first game had, and we'll have another awesome OST.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Official site updated again, 3-24.

Translation thanks to someone over at GFAQs, no idea how accurate it is.

Quote:
Character: Leone
She's the female with short black hair. Some people have confused her as Anri/Hrist when she first appeared in Alicia's character section. Nope, she's flesh and blood human, and she appears together with Aluze (!) as treasure hunters or something like that.

She's intrigued by Alicia and her band, and offers to join them. Leone plays the role of an elder sister figure to Alicia in the story.

New feature: Object Reading
This is Silmeria's unique ability. She/Alicia can read the remnants of thoughts and emotions in objects you encounter throughout the game. Use this ability to open up new pathways, learn more about the past of people and the world, and... gain Einherjars.

The example shown is Alicia's own childhood past. Through a rusty amulet, you see how as a child, she was banished and locked away in a cave. (Alicia is considered "touched" aka all messed up and a Royal embarassment, since she kept seeing/talking to Silmeria.)

New feature: Materialize
Because of Simeria's forced reincarnation, her Valkyrie power is a little off. This affects the Einherjars that sleep inside her. She/Alicia relies on objects/possessions left behind by the deceased to regain their memories and identities. Silmeria then can reconstruct the "forgotten" Einherjars.

As Einherjars becomes stronger (both power and will/identity-wise), they eventually regain their full flesh and blood body and is reborn as human beings again. They are then freed from their role as Einherjars. In this game Silmeria is not a Battle Maiden in Odin's service. There is no need to send Einherjars to Valhalla.

Oh yeah, the last panel in this subject hints at the reunion with Einherjars after they have gained freedom. But the sentence simply trails off at that and I can't figure out what's supposed to happen, or if there's any big deal about that even.
The screens also show some female warrior named "Rishel"... battle shot of her is hot :dopey_love:

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Official site updated with Arngrim (Aluzi), 3 dungeons, and 2 wallpapers.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

They also showed this back when we saw the first screens of Alicia's Nibelung Valesti. Trivial fact: they changed it from "Skip" (in English) to katakana.

http://www.playfrance.com/ps2-Valkyr...-sa-forme.html

Some scans along with an interview. I had a friend translate some of it for me and I'll paste it down here... name & timestamps edited out :P (instant messenger convo...)

-he says the game is pretty much done
-it's now in debug phase
-no difficulty level at start
-there's chapters but time does't progress in them like before
-this time you buy items from the shop with money
-rare items in shops too
-you keep buying from a shop, sometimes you can buy "?" iems
-also there's components that you collect from battles that you can use to make rare stuff
-"monsters can be split into parts like hands, feet, body, tail and so on, and some items can only be gotten by destroying certain parts'
-"for instance if you want to go after the tail you have to change your formation so you attack enemies from behind"
-so the two ways of battling
-1) go after the leader for high bonus points and fast battles
-2) go after the little guys first for parts
-is how he lays it out
-oh cool, when you're travelling you can split your party into two
-do pincer attacks and so on
-basic weapon types
-great sword, one-handed sword, spear, bow, rods
-alicia can only use swords, no bows
-one handed swords are basic, fast attacks, easy to combo
-greatswords not so east to combo, but by holding button down you can blow enemies back or against walls
-spears you can pull enemies in
-so everybody has 3 basic attacks like before
-though with the single AP gauge you can make just one person keep attacking until it's gone
-however if you do that your AP goes down faster
-so he says it's still better to use everybody in the party
-some characters can equip more than one weapon type but they can only do their PWS with a certain type
-ah so einherjar's getting released after reaching a certain level
-you can choose whether to do that or not
-apparently there's rewards for releasing them, but it's up to you on whether the rewards are worth it
-he says it may be difficult to decide whether to get the reward or keep the character, since they're pretty good
-he cites "very powerful weapons" or "game-breaking amounts of money" as possible rewards
-there are these dungeon items called fuuinseki
-special items that have effects both when you carry them and when you place them in altars
-or wait
-no you take them from altars
-so like a dungeon might have the "Sword's Blessing" fuuinseki
-while it's in the altar all undead do 1.2xdamage to you
-but if you manage to take it from the altar your characters do 1.2x damage instead
-you can also take the fuiuinseki out of th edungeons by spending a cost in those mashouseki that you pick up in battle
-skill system is quite complex
-each piece of equipment has a rune
-by combining runes you get certain skills
-llike if you put a triangle and a rod and a circle shaped rune together you might get certain skills
-but you have to keep fighting until the skill gets to 100% to actually learn those skills
-also the skills only happen while the proper runes are equippd
-so if you change equipment the skills you get might also be different
-also each equipment has a color link
-red, green, blue, or colorless
-the more you get of a color the stronger skills becomes
-so he says you should try and equip all of the same color equipment
-that's it
-most of the other stuff in the article is already-known info

So the import should be a true winner. Good!

I wasn't a huge fan of SO3's English voices, mostly because Maria got shafted pretty hard. Neya Michiko is tough to beat.

Nah... I've mastered the ability of playing Japanese games without knowing the language. It's not that difficult. (Katakana is all you need)

Well, obviously I'm talking about only knowing enough to get yourself through the game, not really caring about dialogue, descriptions and the like.

Hell, this game should be VERY import friendly. Have you ever seen Japanese VP1?

I think it had the most amount of English out of all tri-Ace games.

Usually there's a translation guide out there which can help you follow the story, but there's a reason why I only do this with Tales and tri-Ace games: they are heavily gameplay oriented. Yes, I find the battle system & gameplay fun enough to play through the entire game without having any idea what's going on in the story.

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/vp/vp2/index.html

Official website updated today.

Nothing really new we haven't learned from scans, however if you go under System - Game Scene you get to see two actual gameplay videos.

They take forever to load compared to the video size & length, so be warned. It's still nice to see exactly how battles will work in this game (not totally the same as the original) and to hear some voices/sfx/music.

I was speaking idiomatically.

A new long promo video is out.

About the first 3:30 of it is new, then it replays the old video.

I get the feeling there are even more characters this time around. The difference being that most of the "extra" einherjar are being designed by someone else. (I think Kou & You designed all characters for the original game, right?) Either way I still think they look nice.

Should've taken Lwyn instead of Crescent even though she doesn't converse with anyone. Hands down the best looking female sword user in the entire game, and she has the "cute/fun" voice samples too.

You are over-complicating it. Just don't jump on the bridge, that's it. Run over it and freeze the flying enemies and switch places with the bugs.

If I beat the Palace of Dragon etc, will that be too late then?

Spoiler:
You need to level them to 40 before you finish the Dragon Palace if you want the items. Keep in mind they pretty much break the game because they are overpowered...
