What size and/or model?
WD's new 500GB drive is damn near silent. I run two of them in RAID, and they are awesome. $110 USD isn't too bad of a price, if you ask me. Bonus: they run very cool. Despite what the asswad on the Newegg pages says: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136073 Also, there are no fans inside a hard drive. If this noise is a new development, it could be on it's way to the junkyard. edit: That hard drive silencer box thing looks fairly volatile to hard drives. Keeping 55C idle for a hard drive is ridiculous and will severely reduce the life of the hard drive. Jam it back in, in the dark.
