I have a GeForce 4 MX 64MB and I can run CS:S at 1024x768 with medium settings at a reasonable 40FPS. Turn it to low (not even much of a change) and it's 50. Hell, I overclocked the memory a fair bit to get 60. Sure it's only DirectX 7, but if you like Source, it's a cheap fix.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
