Spoiler:
And if you must do so, she should have a heroic death, if she dies in the tipical car accident (or vehicle accident, cause that's dumb enough) I will release the G-virus at Capcom HQ >=(
Way to over-react there skippy.

Spoiler:
The RE series has jumped about in its time line so often that even if what the picture suggests is true, it doesn't mean Jill can't appear in more games. Hell, it's a game that uses made-up science, it doesn't mean they couldn't find some way to resurrect her somehow. So basically, I really wouldn't call it something to throw a little tantrum over (really, a silly threat even in jest is just retarded, don't do it).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I was pointing out that even if what the picture hints at is true that doesn't necessarily mean much, since this is a fairly flexible series in terms of time line and science.

Edit: OK, so maybe I was being a bit of a jerk, but the whole G-Virus comment was bloody stupid.

Most amazing jew boots

The demo is coming to the West in the next couple of weeks:

Quote:
Fans of Resident Evil won't have to wait much longer to have a taste of Resident Evil 5 in playable form.

Capcom announced Wednesday that the demo for the highly-anticipated action horror game is arriving on Xbox Live on Monday, January 26.

The demo will hit PS3 one week later, a Capcom rep confirmed. He gave no reason for the one-week gap between the demos. The full game hits shelves on March 13 this year.

Damn, that CE looks sweet. If we had this over here I'd actually be laying down an order. Since all we get is a steelbook and DVD for an extra £15, they can take a running jump.

I'm pretty sure in their recent FAQ JoyStiq have pretty much revealled the answer to a question that came up in various released screenshots. Don't read unless you're interested in potential spoilers (or at least the idea of one).

Spoiler:
In the FAQ they wrote:
Quote:
What else aren't you telling us?
Capcom has a huge list of things we're not allowed to talk about in this preview. Did you know that **** ********* is actually *****? Yeah, pretty surprising.
It doesn't take a great leap of imagination to see that the words 'Jill' 'Valentine' and 'alive' all fit neatly into the starred sections of that sentence. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to put money on that.

My copy of the game arrived today, so if anyone else has it on the 360 and wants to do co-op, let me know.

I'm surprised Capcom isn't keeping a tighter lid on this considering what a major release it is.
In my case my copy was a pre-order, and the place I ordered from evidently got things out in enough time that it turned up a day early (along with a little Chris figuring, randomly).

I just beat this game...and 'plot' wise..it's pretty fuckin' retarded. Especially when you find out who's under the god damn mask.
I figured who was under the mask from the beginning of the game, how did that take you by surprise? Also, given the nature of Las Plagas (read the files) it does make reasonable sense. That's not to say the story isn't all kinds of silly, but it fits with what you'd expect from Resident Evil.

I'd take a game I want to play with friends over a game story I want to discuss with friends. The story is fine, it drives events pretty well and moves at a reasonable pace throughout. The supporting files and documents give a reasonable insight into the world they've created and seem to tie up a bunch of threads from the series.

No, it's not an amazing story, but the RE games have never had amazing stories. What they have had is great set pieces and memorable gaming moments. Who doesn't remember the dogs leaping into the hallway the first time in RE1, for example. RE5 is certainly more action orientated, but I'm really enjoying it and have been more than to go back and replay sections many times over to look for items, emblems and other stuff.

Sheva's not that bad, you just have to limit her ammo and she takes a bit more care with it. Alternatively, complete the game with a mate, get the infinite ammo for one of the guns (like the first pistol) and let her go crazy with that. I've found the AI to be reasonably decent for the most part. Sure she sometimes stands right behind me and shoots me (thankfully it doesn't hurt), but she does a reasonable job of staying out of trouble, taking a few zombies down and helping me out when I get caught (well, sometimes).

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Sheva's Long Bow is pretty power, even though it lacks an aiming sight.
I find the lack of sight adds to the fun of the bow. There's an incredible sense of satisfaction to be had from nailing a headshot with the bow over distance, especially against the dudes with body armour on. The best shot I ever pulled off was nailing a guy controlling one of the switches on the moving platform stage from a fair distance up. Good times.

Aside for Chris "Rock Solid" Redfield's stupidly large arms, I think the character models are really well done in the game (certainly Sheva). And really, watching the cutscenes from a Resident Evil game is about as good an indicator of quality as judging a film by watching the credits.

Given you don't own a 360 or a PS3 I doubt Capcom will be losing any sleep over your statement that you won't be buying (one has to wonder, if the characters didn't look silly to you, what you would buy it?).

As for your first spoiler:
Spoiler:
Clearly you haven't played any of the games since Resident Evil 3 then, since Jill looks a lot like the way Jill has looked for quite some time now. Take a look at her character model from the REmake: http://residentevil.wikia.com/wiki/Jill_Valentine. The only real change is that under Wesker's control she became a blonde (guess Wesker likes blondes).

OK, on the topic of hair colour changes, after doing some reading I found the supposed reasoning:
Spoiler:
I assume this comes from Jill's file in RE5, but I'd need to read it to make sure:

Quote:
Wesker discovered an abnormality within Jill's body: a remnant of the t-virus infection from Raccoon City, which had been reactivated by the cryogenic stasis. As the virus disappeared, it left in its place powerful antibodies, which Wesker then used in order to help make the Uroboros less poisonous, thus giving human subjects a better chance of surviving infection. As a result of the antibody extraction, Jill's hair became a light blond (sic) color, and her skin became paler due to etoiliation.

I don't own a 360 or a PS3 so I haven't actually played the game
I have played it, I just never finished it.
One way or another you're lying and you're definitely talking shit. You claimed not to have played the game and said it looked bad purely on the basis of the cut scenes, which is fucking retarded. And why would you buy a game you couldn't play just because it was from a series you like? Also idiotic. And I've provided picture evidence of how one character model still looks mostly identical, if you can't see how it's the same you don't want to see it.

Please shut up now.

I thnik sometimes the people who write all the backstory guff get a little carried away...
Yeah, though that is part of what makes the RE game's stories so gloriously stupid that they do keep coming up with backstory to justify the nonsense they put in the game.

The only thing I derived from the cut scenes is the story.
Which ultimately took away all my motivation to get the game and play it somewhere that isn't home.
So you'd only play Resident Evil for the story? Oh brother.

As should be painfully clear by now, the story is stupid, but in a fun way (as has been the case with all the Resident Evil games), but more importantly the game itself is a lot of fun. Basing your purchasing decision on some cutscenes you watched on YouTube is downright stupid. Your status as a moron is confirmed right there.

does the amount of points you get differ by difficulty? I know on Normal mode beating a level and getting an "S" ranking supplies you with 1,500 points. Just wondering if beating a level on Veteran or even Professional will yield even more points.
Yes. S-rank on Vet gets you 2,000, on Pro it nets you 2,500.

Holy shit, don't ever play Professional with the AI. Bitch is not helpful at all.
Give her Hydra and a sniper rifle, Sheva becomes reasonably useful (though not as helpful as another human, naturally). But yeah, it's perfectly playable. I should know, I basically completed the whole of Professional mode solo.

I don't know how the PS3 store works
With real money Garr, so when they say it costs $5, it really will cost you $5.

And I don't agree, I think this is a legit add-on to the game and one most won't care about (versus in RE5 is just not going to work). I'd rather the game was released when it was, and was $5 less. But hey, that's just me.

I was thinking of picking this up, especially since it's been getting some very positive preview and review type comments (and because RE5 was great fun and more Jill is no bad thing), but since a lot of the fun was playing it co-op I was wondering if anyone else was doing so. If other people are grabbing this I might well do so and blast through it with someone.
