Definitely try calling your Internet Service Provider. For me they had to register the PS2's MAC address (an address unique to every online device). They atomatically picked up the address while my PS2 was plugged in to the modem and I was playing Tony Hawk in no time.

In any case, your ISP should be able to walk you through it.
