I don't think I've ever seen anything jump the shark harder than Soul Calibur has. This series went from excellent (SC1) to good (SC2), stayed there (SC3), went to SHIT (SCL) and now will have Darth Vader (in his officially licensed and special made black Zubaz sweatpants) and Yoda using their lightsabers in the most obscene fashion (in a Star Wars fan's mind, anyway) possible: in actual swordfighting. With other people who use SWORDS. And have no concept of the Force.
Did I mention the fact that a lightsaber would break a sword? In fact, the only rational way you could lose in a swordfight with Yoda is if his lightsaber broke off the end of your sword and the broken shard stabbed him in the head. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
That's fair. However, from a standpoint of concept, there's a certain extent to which I'd be willing to accept a logic where a lightsaber vs. a sword/hand knives/giant 10-foot axes is a reasonable battle.
My point though was that the Soul Calibur series has fallen from grace and this isn't the most damning evidence (Link and bombs, what?) but I'm really disappointed. (Arguing about the logic and physics of fighting games is lol) There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Think about the characters themselves, specifically Yoda. From all we've seen, Yoda is unfuckingstoppable in a fight. Why would Star Wars fans want to ruin that for themselves by foolishly taking Yoda versus some experienced SC player? I'd personally be heartbroken to lose as Yoda. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'm proud to say that I still have my Dreamcast (gifted to me on 9/9/99) and Soul Calibur, to boot.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Gameplay-wise, I'd say SC2 had the best fighting system of the series, yes.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
