I live in Boston (whine) and I support the Penguins (also whine).

Good news for Pittsburgh fans: if the Penguins won the rest of their games (22 = 44 points = 83 points total) it's possible they could still make the playoffs!

Bad news for Pittsburgh fans: if the Penguins won the rest of their games (22 = 44 points = 83 points total) it's possible they could still make the playoffs and lose out on another high draft pick!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You didn't notice they were doing good, but now that you do you're going to pay attention to them. That's called jumping on the bandwagon. ESPECIALLY if you hadn't paid attention to them before.

Not much unlike their NBA brethren (Chauncey Billups and Ron Mercer), the Boston Bruins have traded away the two biggest names from their 1997 draft, with Sergei Samsonov being shipped to Edmonton for Marty Reasoner, Jan Stastny and Edmonton's second-round pick this summer. Will the similarities continue? Well, maybe between Mercer and Samsonov, but Jumbo Joe is probably not going to end up winning (m)any championships or MVP trophies.

Sorry, but calling a train-wreck anything other than a train-wreck doesn't change the fact that it is actually a train-wreck. Mark Wreck-i might do some good for the 'Canes but there's no one player on this planet that is going to bring the Penguins out of the cellar right now and I don't think Mark would've exploded for 60 points in the last 20 or so games.

I'm not saying keeping him would've been a bad idea (veteran support FTW), but there was probably some behind-the-scenes stuff going on that made him want to waive his no-trade clause...not to mention the fact that Carolina is in first place.

Give the Pens a few years, they'll be in the hunt.

So, how about that pick-and-roll goal by the Wings and Lidstrom?

I haven't been paying much attention to the playoffs, though I have watched more games this year than in years past. The games I have seen have been intense, high-scoring, and just all-around exciting. This is what hockey is all about. I'll get more focused once things get to the conference finals.

Brodeur gave up three soft goals, ones which doinked off his stick (twice) and off his foot (once).

NBC has a really nice presentation. OLN just looks dirty in comparison to NBC's sharp, clean presentation. SJ/EDM should be a tight game though.

Penalties plz kthx.

This game would probably be over by now if the refs hadn't swallowed their whistles.

I mean, I love xtuple overtimes, but the idea was calling penalties when they happen, no matter when.

(Get what you ask for...Edmonton penalty...)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well, if they do, you'll be seeing less of these particular refs, if Bettman's pledge comes true.

Besides, this game is going to end in the 3OT anyway...why not put some power plays in the mix and get things moving that way?

Toronto did it sometime back in the 50s or something, and the Islanders did it to the Pens in the 70s. It's only happened once in baseball...

Canes finish off the Devils 4-1. It'll be Canes-Sabres and Ducks-EDM/SJ.

Kind of an unexciting final forecast, but if anything the chance that a team that has never won a Stanley Cup will win one this year is currently 75%, and those teams are in markets that have been hurting or are non-traditional. Which Gary Bettman will be happy about.

BTW, wonder if he'll be booed at the Cup presentation ceremony.

I think I may end up rooting for the Sharks, simply because I want to see the Bruin regret giving away Joe Thornton (though he's shown again that he's a playoff dud).

But I think it'll be Carolina winning the Cup.
