If you want to get Valkyrie Profile it's gonna cost you a fortune, unless you actually find it in a used game shop. Ebay or half.com will cost over $100 and that's not even factory sealed.
You can get alot of the Final Fantasies that have been released on PS1 or PS2 for pretty cheap on Buy.com or Amazon.com new. Having played Soul Calibur 2 and 3. I'd say getting 2 would be a waste if you're getting 3. The new Mortal Kombat game they're working on looks pretty awesome but only time will tell. There are alot of older game Collections you could get that are available on PS2 like Midway Arcade Treasures and Capcom Classics Collection if you like older games. Personal reccomendations though, if you like RPGs. Star Ocean: The Second Story Valkyrie Profile if you can afford it Tales of Destiny Disgaea That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
As for your question about would you like Chrono Cross since you liked Chrono Trigger. That's hard to answer, the combat really isn't all that similar. Also alot of Chono Trigger fans consider what they did to the CT characters in it a bastardization.
Seriously though if you can find a copy of Star Ocean: Second Story for a decent price get it. The combat has abit of an action twist to it and it's a nice change of pace from the usual stuff you do in Final Fantasy. Plus there are lots of different endings depending one what characters you manage to pair up together. You can pair up any 2 characters you want as long as they can be in the party together (Either romantically or friendship, depends on the characters in question). It's up there with Valkyrie Profile in my personal favorites. If you want to play an action game where you take on swarm after swarm of troops, you might want to check out the Dynasty Warriors games. Obviously just skip to the most recent ones if you do. There are alot of people that complain that the series doesn't move forward enough with each release, but then there are people like me and my friends who can't get enough of it. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
