Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 - Action Fighting - Before it broke off into full scale 3D fighting with the Tenkaichi series, Budokai 3 combined the best elements of the first two Budokais and added much more. With over 60 characters to choose from, multiple paths you can take to end certain characters' story modes (and you have to in order to unlock certain characters), and the music is just kick ass. The only downside to this is you're probably only going to buy this game if you're a DBZ fan, but it's the best of the Budokai series.
I'd second this and recommend Tenkaichi 3 as well. At least for any DBZ fan. Both games are much more fun then the next gen game Burst Limit. While Bukokai was a fighting game, Tenkaichi felt more like the game mechanics were made purely with DBZ in mind.

I'd also like to add Disgaea to the list. While not their first game, it's the game that put Nippon Ichi on the map. A very creative, fun, strategy rpg and while the graphics resemble the tactics games it has a style of it's own in the gameplay department.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Howcome nobody mentioned FFX-2? Sure, it's not the best FF out there, but if you're a fan of FFX, I guess you'll like it for the "continuation" story and the shitload of stuff you can do in the game. Basically it's like Final Fantasy combined with Dress-Up Barbie and a lot of mini-games. It has it's good points, and it can be fun if you ignore everyone saying how bad it is.
I gotta play that and Final Fantasy X one of these days. PS2 RPGs were bad timing for me. I was super addicted to MMOs and didn't get around to playing anything else. I beat Disgaea and I got about halfway through Valkyrie Profile 2 before deciding I hate the combat system. That was about it for PS2 rpgs for me. I got FFX, FFX-2, Odin Sphere, Kingdom Hearts, and the Wild Arms remake over there looking at me shouting "Play Me!" but I just have piled up so many games I have to finish.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Also, since q was bashing on me for getting Pryzm and Vexx I just want to say that I like platformers since they generally don't have any wasted time due to story and they were both $4 (one of which was free because of Onimusha 2). It was either one of them or the Bouncer. Not really fantastic choices either way.
You should never consider getting Bouncer. Unless maybe if the store is paying you to take it off their hands. Even then it's arguable if it's a good decision.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
