Yeah, that's pretty much the idea I came up with on my own, but with Pit. Got 8 or 9 that way. (Go fig I only needed one or two more without knowing for sure to unlock something else. )

As for the last event battle, I managed that on normal with Ike. His Counter works wonders sometimes against a Giant Mario.

I am slowly working on the Collect all Stickers and Collect all Trophies challenges. Very slowly. For I have little desire to fight the SSE bosses waiting for those trophy bases >_>;
Remind me how that works? Can you just nail them with it as soon as one happens to appear, or do you have to get their health bar down a ways before chucking it at them, or what?

...And someone please tell me the highest challenge for combined distances of Home Run Contests is 37,500 ft. I think I'll die if it's something like 50,000.

How ya doing, buddy?

Considering that I'm not a big fan of Melee, I'm shocked that I enjoy Brawl a much as I do. I think the soundtrack has something to do with it. Except I can't find the 'X Tunnel Scene' music anywhere. Too bad.
I picked up the CD for it somewhere early on in SSE, I think...though to be honest, I couldn't tell you where for sure exactly.

I've been concentrating more on the single player stuff. 91% on SSE, All the Melee stages unlocked and a lot of the challenges done, all the event matches done (on normal, and a few on hard for the challenges). (I hope they'll give me a notice when all the music's unlocked. ) I hit the 50,000 mark on the home run contest thing too, nothing there as well. Though that was a real pain. And some of the target smash challenges were pretty annoying too, namely the ones where you have to complete them in a certain time.

I know I'm still missing a few stages, but I don't know how many for sure and what I need to do to unlock them. I guess that's partly why I'm trying to do a lot of the challenges. Going through the target smashes with EVERYBODY sure gets tedious.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Flags are incomplete. Multicoloured glowey....things are actually multicoloured glowing crowns, which imply 100 percent completion of that stage.
....

...Well now I feel stupid. I thought it was the other way around. This would explain much though.

I unlocked all the stages days ago, but I still don't seem to have Random Stage Select. Am I just not seeing the option somewhere? Or is there something more I have to do? I've beaten SSE and unlocked every character and done all the basic stuff (Classic, All-Star, Home Run, Boss Battles, etc.).

I'd very much like to be able to select random but not have to go to a Melee stage. ._.
You sure you have all the stages unlocked, including the Melee ones? Like, I thought I had them all but then found I was missing this one. Once I got it, I got a notice saying not only that I had unlocked all the stages, but also that the "Random Stage" setting was now available.

I might have to shy away from the online stuff, because right now my connection's pretty retarded. I run off lousy DSL so I always for example get constant yellow/red bars playing WoW except in the wee hours of the morning. I tried playing a few Brawl matches with a friend online but got whooped almost all the time because he had no lag while I had enough to screw me over completely most of the time. Rather discouraging.

Right now my Wii connects through the Nintendo Wireless USB Connector on my computer (which is in the same room), while the computer has a wired connection to my DSL router. That GameFAQs thread doesn't say a thing about people connecting through the wireless USB, though I should look at his sources to see if they say anything.

I could try wired, but I wouldn't be able to connect on this comp and the Wii simultaneously that way. (I don't have another long cable to connect both.) Aaaand...well, I'm a bit worried I'd only screw up the connection for everyone on the router in trying to tinker with it like the thread suggests. So, I think I'm S.O.L. for right now on online brawling.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I would try it except I can't seem to figure out how to add conveyor belts. It's not in my stage builder options palette, or else I'm doing something wrong.
If memory serves, there's at least two part sets you have to unlock by building stages. You have to build 5 for one set, and 15 (10 more after the first) to get the second. I can't remember if there's a third, but you'll get a notice saying if you've got all the parts. Hope that helps.

Only one blue challenge box left here, and I have this horrible feeling it's a song. Rest are red or cleared.

I've only got one hammer left though, and it's probably going to feel like a waste wherever it's used because there are several tough ones it won't let me use it on, which I think is lame.

...It used to be that I could easily hit my head on the underside trying to up-B (with Ganondorf) back to Battlefield in Melee. Now it's Final Destination that has that problem, which is even worse since that stage is generally more popular.

It is now and it's crossed off.

I've been attempting, as of lately, to beat all the Target Challenges with one character. Can anyone recommend anyone fast enough to deal with all five effectively?
My guess is probably Fox or Falco, as their blasters help nab some targets easily. They've been my choice for most of the challenges involving completing in a given time for a certain level.

So, when I first got this game I was noticing fuzzy vertical bars in some places but didn't think too much of it. Now, I still see them and videos are having a tough time loading. The Wii's making noises I didn't notice before and finally one of the videos got so freezy that I eventually got an error. I've left the disc in there pretty much the whole time but I typically don't leave the Wii itself running nonstop; I usually unplug it.

Are these pretty much the sort of disc read problems I was hearing about a week ago?

Could be, but I would highly suggest turning off the console via the remote's Power Button and leaving it on the orange standby mode, rather then physically disconnecting power from the unit by unplugging the power cord every-time you want to turn off the console, that sort of action can cause data corruption and may be the cause of your other problems.
Well actually, just to be safe, I power it off to the orange standby mode first, and then unplug it, so hopefully that's not a factor in the issue. Now to dig around in this thread for the links for Nintendo support...

EDIT: Turns out I had the page @ Nintendo in my recent history, so I found it pretty quick after posting.

Hrm...am I the only one that thinks that if a dusty/dirty lens is the problem, that it could easily happen again over time?

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I'm sure something like this was asked before, but it would probably involve a lot of digging around. I'm pretty sure the answer's no, but would sending my Wii in for this repair result in losing the data that's on it? (I don't have one of those memory cards for it.) That'd really piss me off, considering all the work that I've put into Brawl thus far, not to mention other Wii games.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I've found that even the slightest of lag makes a quick character kind of... weak.
Pff..imagine what it does to a slow character. I can't land a thing and look like a retard to the other people that aren't lagging at all.

...Son of a..99% cleared on SSE, and go figure that the one not-fully-cleared stage is The Great Maze. Even with the whole map and a guide (a SSE guide off of GameFAQs, that is), that's going to be a real pain in the posterior to do.

EDIT: Changed my title after picking up on a little technique for Ganondorf that looks kind of amusing and potentially quite deadly. The smashboards people are thinking of calling it the "Thunder Storm" since it involves the Thunder Drop, his down aerial. But since it resembles bunny-hopping quite a bit, I think "bunny-stomping" sounds funnier.

On the subject of LAN adapters, any difference between the official one and the Datel one? The Nintendo one should be the better choice since they're both the same price, but I've ordered the Datel one because of cheap shipping from Futureshop, so we'll see.
I read somewhere (probably in the online support page @ Nintendo) that only their brand of the LAN adapter would work with the Wii. Though maybe they're just saying that so you'll buy theirs, I dunno. Come to think of it, I can't remember whether or not the one I have is Nintendo brand, and I know it works.

Say, I noticed in The Great Maze that some of the save/portal rooms twinkle different on the map than others. Anyone know if that might mean anything?

Today's Update: Ganondorf

Even Sakurai is cracking on Ganon for not using his sword.
Oh hesh, you. Like he even needs it.
I like how the shots they have of him make him look as though there's actually some degree of gracefulness to his movements. An intriguing dichotomy.

As for the tourneyfag view on the stages, I suppose they do that to rule out the possibility (as best they can) of whiny pussies with the "WTF YOU ONLY WON CUZ OF THA STAGE YOU SUCK I HATE YOU!!!!11!11". The same's probably true of not having items.

I'm sure we've all already had matches where we lost because the other player (CPU or not) got lucky with something like that. The Arwing shot you instead of them, the Halberd decided to go after you, they got the Smash Ball in one hit, so-and-so came out of the Poke Ball or Assist Trophy, etc. And yes, that those things are an integral part of the game is a valid argument, I'm just saying they probably would rather not deal with the randomness of it by not having items and banning certain stages.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

...I feel a little dumb asking this, but I've found that on playing on big-screens that there tends to be a split-second delay in all that I did, as if there was a teeny bit of lag even when playing offline. I remember having a similar issue with Melee. Anyone know if there might be settings on Brawl, my Wii or the TV to correct this?

Yeah, finding a Game Mode setting fixed the tiny delay offline. It's not an old TV though (still relatively new, actually -- a Sony Bravia 40" HDTV).

Sad news, though. I switched to a wired connection, did all that tweaking with the port forwarding and stuff in that GameFAQs thread, and I still lag in the sense that there's a delay to everything I do. Kind of like when the TV's display wasn't switched to Game Mode, but a lot bigger. About a half second, which is plenty enough to make online brawls with friends or anyone rather rough (I tried both).

Yeth-thir, I hate my DSL.

You can complete some of the requirements, like "complete x mode with all characters," on Easy mode which is a huge timesaver.
Timesaver it might be, but it's still pretty tedious to do. (I know because I did. )

I think I still have a little less than 20 challenges to go, with no blues left, so I can see them all. The only really hard ones left are the obvious Boss Battles on Intense and the 15-minute brawl. I got the 100-man brawl stuff done with Ganondorf already, thankfully.

And before any of you say 'Just use DK on the 15-minute and spam his down-B', not only is that awfully boring, but that failed for me in Melee miserably, what with everything imaginable that explodes on touch deciding to drop out of thin air on me while I'm doing that move. I learned my lesson.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

100 Man Brawl becomes more tedious than difficult if you just whore out your character of choice's major smash moves. I got through it with Game and Watch, abusing his Up+B then down air attacks to create a vertical line of death, sprinkled liberally with ground down attacks. My brother then showed me up by beating the 3:30 challenge by solely abusing Marth's upward attacks.
With Ganondorf it's pretty much any of his moves, though I did find myself abusing the up-smash through a platform. I barely managed to make the 3' 30" with him. In one instance I lost because I fell to my death just before the VERY LAST one did.

That...was maddening.

How ya doing, buddy?

Got all the level 4 Target Smashes done. Lucario was the most annoying by far to do. I'm not that familiar with his moves, so the vast majority of my failed attempts with him (not to mention with several others) was trying to get that last target with his up-B. 'Bout drove me insane.

Level 5 actually feels easier, what with no ice and having already got the under-30-seconds challenge out of the way, or whatever the time was.

EDIT: Say, does anyone know if there are additional music tracks for (X) stage that are obtainable only by brawling on that stage so many times, that are NOT listed as a challenge already? It hadn't occurred to me that there might be. Or is this true of practically all the stages but finding the CD through other means is probably faster than brawling whatever number of times on said stage?

I ask because the CDs seem to be getting a little scarce on that custom stage for farming them.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

*looks at the tourney discussion thread for the first time*

Anyone got morphine for my migraine? On a funnier note, I think people who complain about hammers should play as Ike/Marth. I often deliberately LET other people get the hammers just to see the look on their faces when they get death by Counter.

Anyway, while I don't entirely agree with the current rules, they're good enough for me. Anything would be better than Gamestop's joke of a tournament.

Sorry Chaotic, but I definitely would sign up were it not for my internet being "teh suck".

Say...I had a thought in reading IC's post: when I've played friends lately I've had about a half-second delay to whatever I do, but they tell me they don't have any lag. So, would it actually be me that's lagging, or them? The delay is pretty consistent in random brawls online too, but maybe I'm just unfortunately getting matched up with somebody else who lags, I dunno.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Say...might anyone have or know of a decent program to convert the snapshots from .bin to some image format? I found one for converting to JPEG, but on any of the options the picture quality isn't all that great. I've heard some suggest on other forums converting to bmp or png instead but I've yet to find programs for this. Anyone able to help?

Yeah, that looks about the same in terms of quality as the program I found. Possibly because they might use the same source code on the site, dunno. Thanks anyway, though.
