Well, I just hope that the multiplayer servers last longer than Metal Gear 3's did. What was that - a little less than a year?
Yea around that time. The online was quite fun, and then it was just BAM! we're taking it down. Was disappointed when they did that. Same thing when Outbreak servers went offline too.

As for the Beta:

Where would this site be per chance, or a re-direct to the site, in case some of us are interested in it?

Pretty bitchin' figure, Hantei.

In other news, MGS4's Japanese vocal track will be taken out of the US and Euro releases due to lack of disk space. I don't really care about the Japanese track, but I'm sure someone does. Anyone here?
Not really. Used to the Eng. VAs, and they aren't a problem.

Well, you're very much welcome to be dissapointed for something so arbitrary, knowing that the game filled up all 50 Gigs of a Blue-Ray disk should be somewhat reassuring that it will have a lot of relevant stuff worth keeping..
Only problem is that quantity doesn't always equals length. Look at Heavenly Sword. I'm not excited when a game fills up a media. (Then again, I was taught from others in the industry to not try to fill up a media as much as possible). To be honest, it's another thing from Sony pushing among other devs to try and show off how big the media format is.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well I wasn't really talking about the game's length so much as content, visuals, etc.
I understand.
I was more of stating that filling up the format doesn't always makes one feel reassuring. People hyped up games because of how much data it held, but honestly it doesn't feel like worth anything.

I thought this was standard for Metal Gear...
Nah that's for like Xenosaga and so on.

However I'm just hoping that the 30 min cut-scene is something at like the end of the game, rather than in the middle, because to be honest that can draw people away from immersing themselves in the game, since the difference between a movie and game is interaction. (And don't call moving the camera during a cut-scene interaction. )

How ya doing, buddy?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ending cutscene to MGS2 was roughly ~40 mins or so, wasn't it? Since I can only assume that Kojima was a fan of Assassins Creed (using the Altier costume in the latest gameplay video and all), maybe sometimes they will take the approach they did and let the user walk around freely while the dialogue ensues.

I understand that a lot of Metal Gear's cutscenes revolve around heavy scripted choreography, but it may be an interesting/refreshing change every now and then for the less involved scenes. Still, I doubt something like that will happen :/...
Eh. The whole "move around during cut-scenes" thing didn't help much, since you were still confined to a specific area (though generally that's how cut-scenes are).

I heard another rumor that I will download it once I get off work.
The first part yes.
Second part.....maybe not.

I saw it earlier and it's interesting. I wonder if young snake will be controllable in a flashback or maybe it'll be a secret costume after the game is beat.
Anyways it was awesome to see shadow moses remade
It could be along the lines of what they did with:

Spoiler:
In MGS3 when you were in the cell and slept. If you saved and then reloaded at that exact point, there was a side mini game where you were a zombie slayer or so, and you played in that until you died and Snake woke up

So, how do we get our hands on a pre-order of the LE PS3 system of Metal Gear Solid 4?

I wants it. I needs it. And I don't want to scour eBay for when I miss it. Does anyone know of if GameStop is doing a pre-order of it?
Doubtful. They only do system pre-orders when a new generation of systems are coming out. Then again, they've been going bat-crazy with pre-order of things, so who knows as it draws close to the release of it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

This.

I can't believe no one heard about this before. The theme was clearly lifted (or at least, "heavily inspired by") a Russian piece from the 1970s. It was plagiarized.

Whoops.
I remember when people first brought up the incident a while back. All the Kojima-addict fans were trying to justify how it wasn't plagiarism, but went to a crashing end usually with those discussions. Hell they went so far as to sending hate mail to those that said it was copying.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Actually, I felt bad for Kojima primarily in all this. He's not the composer, it's not like he was the one actively commiting the offense, here. I can understand that he's the face of the series, but people either defended or insulted the wrong man too often when this is concerned. He was clearly embarassed. People looked the wrong way, here.
That was one problem that came out of all this. They made it seem like all the blame was on him to begin with, where he's just the head guy in it.

How ya doing, buddy?

Heheh, SOP destab was awesome, I used it every chance I had. Though I don't understand why some people pop the other players when they're disabled, the ideal thing would be to stun them that way they can't respawn right away, heh. Oh, that reminds me, I had one match where right after planting my destabilizer the other team planted theirs causing both teams to be disabled at the same time, rendering our efforts to be useless. Haha, I got a good laugh out of that round.
The destabilizers were fun after the first few times, but then they got so damn annoying. For example, in one of the matches this one guy just spammed the HELL out of destablizers, and when we started using it he started kicking those people.

As for the theatrical trailer, they need to show more in theaters. I can barely remember the last video game trailer I've seen in the movies.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Awwww . Would they refund me my $5 that I spent to preorder it? If they won't then I might as well just get it at Target or something instead of paying an additional $5 to preorder it again...I remember ALWAYS seeing a Halo 3 commercial run right before the opening movie trailers would begin. But I agree with everybody - that new trailer just screams to be shown in theaters.
They have to refund you it, otherwise that's refusal of returning your money. I've seen people trying to be slick when it came to canceling pre-orders. (Like one store having this person pay it out, and believe that he could pick it up at a different store that had the game in stock). You can take it up with the SM, then DM if they give you crap.

Kagosin, if you personally have ever had that problem, that's one thing, but I assure you that's not common practice in the company. Having to even go so far as the store manager to get a preorder canceled is ridiculous.
I work part time at one of the stores. I've heard this from managers themselves, even the DM

Man there's detail in the game.

Didn't know Johnny had Sneaking Suit 0X-00573-D (I can't really distinguish that), along with a small part of his hair sticking out the front part of the hood.

As far as the MGS4 midnight release, it depends on your location. I know the store I part time work at is doing a midnight release, where as another store on the same street like 2 miles down is not.

/me think he will get more than his money worth and see that everything will be explained through the series, keep me on the list.

Given the history of MGS series and Kojima the cutscenes should be good. Don't complain, you can pause and skip them if you don't want to see them for those who are impatient and just want gameplay, then read some spoiler site to find out what happens if you don't wanna sit there.
Problem being is that if it's 90 minutes long, just release a DVD of it or something. It's like how Xenosaga was: They had long cutscenes for the story. Now in regards to that, if you skipped them, normally you wouldn't really know your next objective, as it detours the player away from immersion. It's not the idea that if one doesn't want to sit though them to read a spoiler site, because to be honest, that's not how gaming was built up upon to begin with.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well just proves more the fact MGS4 is aimed for the fans i suppose, i'm fine with it the casual gamer probably not. Wouldn't want another DVD though, as long as the gameplay equals or is more than cutscenes then i'm good. But i get what people are saying and played Xenosaga and after the long scenes i kinda crapped out for the moment.
Well the thing is, if it was like at the end or something, that's fine, because it's setting down to a conclusion. However if they smack one of them in the middle of the game...that's unsettling a bit.

Edit: You know what would work well? The ability to save halfway into a cutscene or something, or perhaps a recap feature. Say you do skip it, you get a screen that summarizes shit, or lists your new objective, or something. There have been titles in the past that use summaries to keep players up to date upon loading the game, so something similar if you decided to not sit down for that length of time would be beneficial.
See, if they have this kind of feature, then everyone would be ok.

Thing is though, I kinda feel they'll have something along the lines which would tell you what your next objective is anyways more or less. But as for the story aspect, a simple cliffnotes way would work in there.

I was speaking idiomatically.

And maybe i sounded like i was really defensive and nit-picking but all i'm saying.. if you're not into it then fine there are alternatives.

EDIT: If it is like 90 minute codec sequences... then i'll just cringe and go to my happy place.
Man if it was 90 min codec scenes.........

Yea there are alternatives and it's not a problem if you like watching cutscenes. The point I should have come out bluntly is: Don't turn it into the route of Xenosaga.

Aside from that I want to see how the boss battles play out.

Well, at least it turns out we were right in assuming it was an over estimation. Kinda goes to show just how many "news" sites will take one blurb and run with it and proliferate the fuck out of it without double checking shit.

Kind of amusing considering Kotaku was complaining about that very same thing the other day with the rumour they started about Soul Blazer on the VC. Oh well, them being retarded and hypocritical isn't news either, so.
The scary thing, is that I wouldn't put it pass the MGS team to do something like that.
