I just finished watching the show on my way to work this morning, and I must say that it was pleasantly awesome. I had never heard of Heroes until I stumbled upon this thread last night after watching Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (also fucking brilliant). There's not much plot yet (other than what the hell is that coming out of the ocean), but that's expected. Everything is still being set up by these character introductions and slowly connecting stories and such.
The only thing I didn't like was the presentation/discovery of the powers. It seemed a bit sudden and/or random at times. Maybe I just didn't like that you have to assume that coming into this pilot, the characters were already familiar that something's different/wrong/weird about them. I liked the powers discovery better in a show like The 4400, which I just finished catching up to last week (also awesome). But yeah, Heroes will definitely be a watch this season, and soon all my nights will be owned by television. Can't fucking wait. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Why was Hiro's first reaction "in the future": ohh, I'll pick up the gun, osnap. BAKABAKABAKABAKA... Other than that, everythings progressing nicely. At first I thought it was some kind of monster in the painting in the first episode. I guess I just didn't get a good look at it. So nuke, eh? Sup Jericho. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Spoiler:
The show really picked up last episode. Lots of stuff happening, more abilities being revealed to people, oh, and EVIL... This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Not really adding to the discussion or anything, but just had to mention:
"We Japanese. That's how we roll." <-- quote of the fucking episode there. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Pyro mom. <3
Haha, what an episode awesome. (So excited that I typed those words out in that order, and I'm gonna keep it that way.) I let out a little "otru" at this line:
![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I'm swapping sides now. This show's fucking amazing. It's getting viewing priority over 24 now. This is one of the few shows I watch that's kept up ridiculous intensity and has answered questions (sup Lost).
Spider-man 3 preview next week too. ![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Should be interesting to see who Linderman's ol' comrades are and what their powers are. Only four episodes left... taking it down to the wire with 24. Oh that's right, it's gonna be a showdown with Jack Bauer in the finale.
Also: "What do you do with something that killed you?" ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I meant to point this out after the last episode because it's fun to say, but Hiro had a dagger (sorta).
![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
For some reason I thought it would be a 2-hour finale. I was ready for 4 hours of television last night too. =/
Anyway. Awesome end to volume 1, and I'm glad we got the start of volume 2 as well. Definitely made me go WTF and is keeping me interested for the next season, as well as the aforementioned loose ends from this volume. Sword. ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Bye bye spoilers. ![]() Also, I think I'll chime in here, since I did EMP research as an undergrad, including threat assessment and awareness. ![]() Check HEMP (High Altitude EMP), a nuclear detonation in the upper atmosphere. HEMP can interfere with ground and airborne systems located over 1000 miles from the origin. I think the theoretical example I found back then was that a strategically placed HEMP attack over the geographical center of the mainland US can be enough to take out systems in the lower 48 states. HEMP is the most powerful but hardest to generate due to the resources required. Basically, if Peter did indeed go nuclear (> ~1 megaton), it would be a hella lot more than NY that would be affected by the HEMP. EDIT: Hehe, I just remembered that the custom title I used to use here on forums ~3 years ago was EMP Weapons Specialist Extraordinaire. :3 I was speaking idiomatically. |
