I just got the G7 a couple of days ago too along with the Xtrac Pads Hybrid pad. It is one of the greatest feelings in the world. The battery concept for the G7 is brilliant. Other cordless mice, you'd put in on a base charger so you can't use the mouse. Here, you swap the batteries, so when it runs out you can pop in the freshly charged on. It's nice.
As for the resolution issue, I'm not sure as I don't see it in SetPoint. There's a newer SetPoint available on Logitech's web site than the one that was bundled with the mouse. I'll update at some point, but maybe there's something there.
