I'm pretty cised for this game, and I'm looking forward to no more snaking, though I was pretty dominating with that anyway. =p
I'm also really looking forward to using the wheel over the other controller schemes (so I hope they are gimped as hell). I enjoyed using the Wii-mote for BIG DAMN TRUCKS, and I figure it'll be about the same for MKWII, just a different orientation and all plus glorified round plastic. Double Dash!! was one of the funnest games to have back in college, so I'm really looking forward to some fun multi-player hi-jinx when this comes. looking forward looking forward looking forward omg look back ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I've added myself to the wiki page (man, Saka did my job
): 4339-2971-0004. Like BRAWL, I've added everyone on the list and will continue to for a month. After that, you get baleted.I'll be playing locally for a while first, but I must say that I'm lovin' the Wheel. It's all about the wheel. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
![]() Anyway, I tried the Wheel first, and couldn't get used to it right away. I used the Wii-mote+Nunchuk combo for a while before trying the Wheel again, and realized that it pretty much dominates once you get it. For whatever reason, getting 2/3-star ratings with the Wheel was a breeze. And now with 4 Wii Wheels, it's mad fun multiplayer plus boxing out madness. I was surprised my friends who don't own Wiis were able to pick up using the Wheel pretty quickly. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

For the light/medium characters I used either the Mini Beast/Wild Wing or Jet Bubble/Dolphin Dasher. For the heavy characters, I use either the Honeycoupe or Offroader (just to be an ass). Disadvantage of using bikes on automatic is not being able to jump out of the wheelie; shaking can be erroneous under pressure. =/How ya doing, buddy? |
It almost begs the question: have you tried using Automatic extensively?Actually, maybe the mini-turbo usage is probably misleading, since "Manual" just sounds more pro. The Manual drift + mini-boost distance/time is less than or equal to the same maneuver in Automatic distance/time, just like doing a trick on a ramp distance/time is less than or equal to just doing the jump (no trick): you jump higher and spend more time in the air but make up for that with the boost when you land. In both cases, I say less than because you could fuck it up. There might be 3 or 4 turns in the game where a perfect drift /turn + orange-boost will get you faster than the Automatic, but just for that turn and not the course overall. Just do time trials under both settings to see it... set your best time using Manual control, then note how easy it is to beat that time in Automatic (pick your best vehicle for each case). The only issue may be your skill with each control, but as long as you're not terrible at Automatic it'll work. I consider myself pretty adept at both considering I used controller for the first almost 3 weeks (until I noticed getting creamed by over-7000/8000/9000-rated Automatic Wheel players). That said, it all probably ties in with the VR score, i.e. not about getting first but about how good you are. We know using the Wheel scores more than the other controllers, so probably using manual works the same way, just as doing tricks on the jumps scores higher. In my opinion, Automatic with the Wheel feels a lil money while Automatic with a stick feels awkward. Manual with the stick with the drifting and mini-boosts is something I think we're all just used too... the gameplay, flow, control, etc. Manual with the Wheel is easily the most challenging control, so driving well with that probably helps your rating better than any other scheme. In whatever case, Manual: not a big deal. ![]() I was speaking idiomatically. |
