I'm not really anal about it, but I do try to keep things in check (which I actually did today).
I like to keep all my original media in their cases; that's movies, music, video games. I do also keep them in alphabetical order. When I take something out, I usually flip the case so I can find it easier later, or notice it later and be like "where did I put the disc?" Since most of my stuff are copies though, I keep them in disc storage cases, sharpie'd and alphabetized as well.
It's really easy to maintain. The only hard part was just initally starting it all.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
