The trains in Boston (or some of them at least) have platforms that are at ground level but getting on the train requires stairs, which is no good for the elderly and disabled, and a pain in the ass for lazy people.

I was once stuck in Boston with no more than $2.95 to my name. I realized too late that I had gotten on the North platform when I needed to go South, so I jumped off the platform, ran across the lines and hopped back onto the correct, south-bound platform.
Was it easy getting up? Pretty much. But it was like a jump and then the rest is in your arms and then swinging your legs over. And if you got a train coming at you and you don't get it right the first time, you're done.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
