BUNCH OF MOST-EXCELLENT SCREENSHOTS + TRAILER + LIMITED EDITION STUFF

Game looks pretty hot so far. I hope it delivers, because I think I'm gonna buy it (JP version) on day 1 or damn close to it.

I'm a little unclear as to how exactly is this going to play though. Real time or turn based? Traditional or tactical? Do you command troops or one character etc.
Here you go.
It's a big download, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what's up.

How ya doing, buddy?

So I uploaded the previously linked video and a couple others to the Youtube dealie. (Hindman gets with the times, oh snap :O ) The bigger, better-quality/higher-res versions are the downloadable, but you know the 'Tube -- it at least gets the point across, heh.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Everyone's in for a real treat with the demo -- I got to play it at the Vendor Show a couple weeks ago. Everything's really fluid and very easy to pick up, with a decent amount of challenge to it (although I'm a newb at tactical/strategy RPGs so take that however you want).
I can say, as a non-newb to strategy RPGs, that the game provides a solid challenge from beginning to end. For that and other reasons, it'll be my vote for GotY 2008.

Gech: It doesn't have a timer, so this is a pure guess, but I'd place it between 25 and 40 hours on the first go round. Depends how much you grind and experiment in the skirmishes and how many times you die, largely.

Also, not to keep imping my own schwack here, but there's also this assload of videos if anyone's interested:

I finally got to try the demo tonight, and while it took a little getting used to, I definitely enjoyed it overall. I'll probably keep playing over and over until the final game comes out so I can get a better feel for it. Definately still a day one purchase for me.
A good idea to get a solid feel for it, but beware not to get *too* used to that level; the strategies of that battle are not the same in every one, and it's a way easier battle than the rest, for sure.

Does anyone get a MASSIVE lag right before the "intro" starts? (intro as in if one of those "screen saver" mode)
Not I.

I'm not sure how I'm going to go back to regular Strategy/RPGs after this game. Fortunately I'll be able to delay returning to them (or at least take a break from them) when the Edy and Selvaria campaigns come out.
Not to mention the "Hard Mode" that is unlocked after you beat the game.

Dude, it is BRUTAL. I haven't had the guts to cue up the EX-Hard mode that was released as a download for the JP version yet, even. The one already in the game is crazy enough.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So how was the story throughout? Did it stay interesting all the way or was it somewhat cliche but saved by the strategy aspect?
I pretty much agree with this:
Well, it's a Japanese RPG. You shouldn't go into it expecting amazing storytelling or a groundbreaking plot or set of characters.
The story does have a checklist of cliches, but they're used well for the most part, and I really enjoyed the story. I say this as a person who generally doesn't get into game stories much.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
