In situations like this, it's better to just knock down the enemy rather than kill him. It'll take him much longer to recover than from respawning.
I have a few online questions:
1. I've been getting the following notice the two times I've logged on so far.
Gamefaqs didn't give a solid answer, but the belief is that something needs to be configured in my ports. I'm not sure how to do that though.

That error just states that you can't create your own games for others to join. It has to do with your PS2 being behind a firewall.

Voice taunts are done by pressing the Select button and then using the dpad to select the desired taunt/command/etc. (e.g. press up to get the top taunt, left for the left taunt, etc.)
