Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day! and Big Brain Academy
So these are two of the popular "brain games" from Japan that are coming to America. Brain Age is out as of this week, and Big Brain Academy is set to come out next month.
What are your thoughts on these games? Nintendo says they are targeting these games more at your average joe than regular gamers, so that turn you off from playing it? Do you think it just looks stupid regardless of who they're aiming it at? Does the concept seem interesting to you? Have you played them, and if so what is your opinion of them?
I just got Brain Age yesterday, and I must say that this is a pretty good game (or non-game, as some people are calling it, just like Nintendogs and Electroplankton). It's just little diversions that supposedly help keep your brain sharp, so there's no harm in that. And at $20, that's not such a bad deal.
I even got my sister (a gamer) and my mom (a non-gamer) to play it as well, and they both enjoyed it a lot. My sister liked playing against me in the multiplayer, and she also learned how to play sudoku (she had never been interested before) because of this game. My mom liked the different games, but she especially liked the sudoku. She already plays it all the time on paper, but now she likes this version even more.
Because this game turned out better than I expected, I'm definitely gonna be getting Big Brain Academy when that comes out, and probably any other "brain" games Nintendo decides to bring over here. As long as they keep being fun, cheap, and fresh, I don't see why these games couldn't continue for a long while.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
