24 Season 6 Anticipation Thread

More and more info about season 6 keeps coming out as we get closer and closer to the start of the season (only five months away now), so instead of still posting in the season 5 thread, I figured we might as well get a new place to discuss all of this stuff.

First off, things like casting info and info about the characters could spoil things for some people, so keep those things and discussions about them in spoiler tags. Other than that, everything should be able to be discussed without using spoiler tags.

So here's the new casting news from earlier this week. Just want to note, this is coming from a man who usually reports spoilers and stuff, but while there's a chance the news is not accurate, it most likely is.

Spoiler:

My spy wouldn't say how Milo would be re-introduced, but he'll be sticking around for a while: Balfour will be credited as a series regular. (If you need a refresher on who Milo is, click here.)

In other 24 news, former Star Trek: Deep Space Nine doc Alexander Siddig is joining the cast as one of the evildoers behind the big Season 6 plot. Additionally, Carlo Rota (aka Mr. Chloe O'Brian) will be back as a series regular.

My thoughts:
Wow, I can't believe they're bringing Milo back of all people. Between this and Wayne being President now, they have quite a few things to explain. Also, I'm glad to see Chloe's ex come back, as he was barely seen last season due to only being in the last two episodes. He has the potential to be a good character, but I'm wondering what capacity they could use him in for the whole season.

Jack Bauer Task Force coming like what.

So feel free to post any 24 news you find, or discuss any of the existing news already posted (just remember to follow the rules about the spoiler tags).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

But hey, maybe Penn's character can tell us where Behrooz is.
I thought this guy was just a comedy actor, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of dynamic he brings to the show. I have to admit though, the character sounds a little generic.

How ya doing, buddy?

I can die happy now. Kiefer Suther finally won an Emmy for playing Jack Bauer on 24!

Seriously though, it's about time these idiots realized how good he is. It sucks though that Jean Smart (Martha Logan) or Gregory Itzin (Presisent Logan) didn't win, as they were freaking great as well. Oh well, at least there's still the Best Drama Series award.

EDIT: OH MY FUCKING GOD! It actually did win the Best Drama Series Award!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Cool to see another comic coming out, and even better, some more stuff about Operation Nightfall. I still haven't even read the first comics yet, so maybe I'll read them all at once after all of these are released (I'm hoping they'll collect them together in a novel format like they did with the first ones, but I'll settle for individual issues as well).

Some more 24 news, the Season 5 DVD Set has been officially announced. The only thing I don't like about it is that of the 12 commentary tracks, two of them cover the same episode (not that big of a problem (especially after listening to the Prison Break ones), but I'd just rather have them all for different episodes).

Yeah, Seasons 2-4 all had commentaries on them (5+Deleted Scenes Commentary on Season 2, 6+DS Commentary on Season 3, and 12+DS Commentary on Season 4), but they were all for different episodes.

And Gech:

Spoiler:
The producers have already said that it won't take place in China, since it would take Jack around 16 hours to get back to the US from there, which is 2/3 of the season. We'll just have to wait for the show to start to know how Jack escaped the evil clutches of the Chinese.

Also, why all the season 3 hate?

Plus Season 3 started off the strange trend of Jack being a bit of a womanizer. Didn't work out with Kate, as we see her calling him once... He has some girlfriend that was married to the badguy he worked under covertly... Bleh. Now Audrey Raines is a nice choice. I hope they don't end up killing her, because they're drawing out their relationship quite nicely. Unlike Tony & Michelle's on-and-off again sort of thing.

The last thing against Season 3? Chase. He didn't interest me at all.
"So, we're going to attack the terrorists..."
"You're mad about me dating your daughter aren't you?!"
"Uhm... Not the time to talk about i--"
"SHE'S A GROWN WOMAN."

Now Curtis Manning is a cool person to be in the field with Jack, much unlike Chase.
Spoiler:
Wow, I know this is all personal preference and opinion, but I disagree with just about everything you said.

First off, Season 1 and 3 are my two favorite seasons, followed by 4, 2, and then 5. I guess it's just because season 1 was so great back then that I've still never been able to compare any other season to it (I can compare certain moments in other seasons to it, but not another entire season). Season 3 is the thing most fans will never agree with me on though, so it's not just you. Season 2 though, just looking back at it wasn't nowhere near the best season to me, though. There also just wasn't really that many memorable moments compared to other seasons (probably the best part of that season was Nina's return).

And I really wouldn't say he was a womanizer. I only consider the call to Kate just a cheap way for Sarah Wynter to make a cameo in season 3, and Claudia seemed like a pretty good love interest to me. Audrey was pretty good at first, but she turned too bitchy for me to like her during the latter half of season 4. I like Kim Raver as an actress, but I could care less about Audrey.

And I really liked Jack and Chase's relationship in season 3. It brought a different kind of dynamic to the show that was never on there before and has never came back since (Jack having a steady partner, someone who has to constantly try to live up to his level rather than work with him in the field every now and then, like everyone else does). Curtis is alright, but I don't really think he's as good as Chase or Tony as one of Jack's partners (and honestly, he hasn't really even worked with him that much).

I know I'm probably not gonna change your mind about anything, but I just wanted to say these things. Someone else probably has a different opinion than both me and you, which shows how multifaceted the show is. It has so many different layers to it that fans can have so many different things they like and don't like about it compared to each other. The important thing here is that we all like the show, which means we're awesome!

Season 5 DVD Artwork Revealed!

Not my first choice (I think it was my third actually, behind the black one in the lower left corner, and the red one in the middle), but it's still pretty good. My only complaint about it would be that the color scheme seems a little too similar to the Season 4 DVD set.

Now we just need to hear whether or not they're keeping the digipak packaging, or changing it to thinpak packaging. I personally like thinpak better, but I'd rather have digipak for this set so it'll be similar to the others.

Oh my god that trailer was made of fucking win! Of course, I'd get excited for anything 24 related, but that's beside the point. Yeah, it was definitely cool, though I have to admit this sacrifice thing is kinda meh. We all know jack's not gonna die, so all this will probably turn out to be is another chance for him to kick some more terrorist ass!

Also:

Spoiler:
San Antonio Bombing? Fucking awesome! I know Jack Bauer ain't actually gonna come here, but just to have my hometown mentioned is gonna rock so fucking hard!

Yeah, there are three 24: Declassified novels released so far, with at least two more scheduled to come out next year. As for the comics, 24: Nightfall is the fourth one to come out so far.

As for the plot of the game, the spoiler-free version is that it takes place between season two and season three, and basically it just involves Jack trying to stop another terrorist plot (and similar to the later seasons of the show, it involves stopping multiple plots rather than just one or two major ones). It's really there more or less to answer the questions between seasons two and three rather than give you a cohesive plot (though it does do that as well). The questions it answers includes:

Spoiler:
How did Jack and Chase meet?
What happens to Max?
What happened to Jack and Kate's relationship?
How did Kim start working at CTU?
How did Chloe get in the picture?

I hope that helps, Furious One.

And for some more news today, FOX wants to milk me for some more money. I really don't see a need for this (yet I'll buy it anyway), especially once the 24 Season 6 DVD set comes out (though that won't be until December 2007).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yes, Siddig will be joining the cast this season.

Putting the rest in spoilers just in case this could be spoiler-related:
In the post where I first mentioned this (which just happens to be the first post in this thread), it said he will be one of the big baddies of the season, but so far IMDB only has him listed as being in the first episode.

A better suggestion was that after Season 7, we all take a week off work just to marathon through it all. I honestly can't wait for that week. =p
I've had this idea in my head since at least Season 4. I don't know though, an entire week of Jack Bauer might just be too much, and my head could explode or something.

But yeah, I'm pumped for Season 6 now. My Season 5 rewatch is almost complete, I got almost all the 24 merchandise out there, and the most important thing, I'm getting the weird looks from the rest of my family whenever they see me scream like a little schoolgirl everytime a 24 commercial comes on. I am ready.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Sutherland is the new Chuck Norris.
That would mean Norris was actually on Sutherland's level at one point, which he obviously never was.

I mean, go watch an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger:

"Oh hey, these bad guys are doing something bad!"
*Karate Kick*
"Good job, Walker."

How that shit lasted for eight seasons is way beyond my comprehension.

I have all 3 of those books that are out, and what I've read of the first one, it seems alright, but I have been far from diligent in my reading.
Are you talking about the Declassified novels? If so, there's a fourth one that just came out at the end of December (the day after Christmas, to be exact). It wasn't supposed to come out until later this month, but I guess they decided to move it up in case people wanted more Bauer before the premiere.

So far I've read the first one and about 1/3 of the second one (I started it back when I had jury duty in the summer, but I haven't read it since ), and I think they're great, especially if you like the older episodes.

Well, from the two I've read so far, it's best to read them in order. The second makes reference to the first one, and even takes place a year afterwards. I'm not sure about the other books, though I figure they probably should be read in order as well.

I blocked him for the rest of the week. =p
Did you block him with...a Phoenix Shield?

But seriously, this leaked shit is garbage, and I'd never watch it. It's one thing to download a show after it's already aired (and even then only if you missed it or really want to see it again), but to watch something before then is just stupid to me.

Rockgamer, let us know how the toys are since I know you'll be one of the first with them.
Will do!

But yeah, as long as these aren't almost $200 like those Japanese Jack Bauer action figures, I'll be picking them up as soon as possible.

Also, that's pretty fucking awesome BlueBmber! I've never watched that much of anything straight through before (except some animu, which is nowhere near as good as 24).

I don't have anything epic planned, but I am gonna try to finish up some 24 stuff before it comes on.

First off, I got the second Declassified novel that I just started reading again, so hopefully I can finish that this weekend. I also need to watch the rest of the extras on the Season 5 DVD (already listened to the commentaries and watched the deleted scenes). And finally, I just bought the latest issue of TV Guide with 24 on the cover, so hopefully I can read that (as long as it doesn't spoil anything) along with the article about about Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) that was in last Sunday's Parade Magazine.

So yeah, nothing too epic planned, but enough to get me my 24 fix before the show comes back on.

Okay guys, since the premiere day is now here, I went ahead and created a discussion thread. But since it hasn't come on yet, I'll go ahead and keep this thread open until it does.

Man, I can't believe it's only hours away. I'm so pumped I can't even sleep! I have to though, so I can give my full attention to the show once it comes on (though I highly doubt 24 would ever put me to sleep).
