Wow, I got a whole shitload of stuff since my last post.
Back in November (on Black Friday), I bought House M.D.: Season 1 for $13, Monk: Season 1 for $13, and Everybody Hates Chris: Season 1 for $18. I've never seen any of these shows, but I've heard good things about all of them. And at prices those cheap, even if I don't like them, it wasn't that much of a waste. Back in December I got 24: Season 5, ER: Season 6, Alias: The Complete Series, and How I Met Your Mother: Season 1. I was torn between which bonus disc to get with 24: Best Buy's or Target's. I eventually chose Best Buy's, but I still want to get Target's somehow. I have to think of a plan (I was seriously about to buy another copy at Target today just to get it, but that would be a waste of money). As for ER, it was so awesome that I finished the whole season (22 episodes) in less than a week. I bought Alias: The Complete Series at Borders for $120. If it wasn't for the coupon that Borders sent with its weekly e-mail (for 40% off any DVD), I probably wouldn't had gotten it anytime soon. But I'm glad that I did, as this set has the best packaging of any DVD boxest I bought all last year. As for How I Met Your Mother, it was only $20 at Borders, so I picked it up as well. I saw the show back when it first came on, but I decided not to get into it at that time since I already had a busy TV schedule. But now that it's on DVD, I can enjoy it at my leisure. And today, I bought Doctor Who: Series 2, Dead Like Me: Season 1, and 24: Season 6 Premiere. I've been wanting Doctor Who since last summer, so this is a godsend. Can't wait to start watching it. I got Dead Like Me since it was on sale for $20 at Best Buy. Never seen it before, but I have a friend who likes it, so I figured I'd give it a chance. As for 24, I dindn't really need to get it (I just saw the episodes, and I'm not that interested in the preview since I won't be able to watch the whole episode at once), but the 24 collector in me wanted it. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Getting all these TV DVDs is seriously gonna make me broke.
Last week I was at Borders, and saw that they had a "Buy 3 DVDs get the 4th free" sale going on, so I figured why not. After much deciding (I must have been there for almost an hour), I decided to get Aeon Flux: The Complete Animated Collection, Dead Like Me: Season 2, Roar: The Complete Series, and St. Elsewhere: Season 1. They were all $40, save for the free one, but with gift certificates and discounts I only wound up paying about $90 for them (so in all, I saved about $70). I got Aeon Flux because I used to watch it when I was younger. I don't remember much of it now though, so I want to watch it again. I got Dead Like Me S2 since I bought the first season last week. Once I found out it was only on for two seasons, I figured I might as well just get the other one and watch them both back to back. As for Roar, another show I watched when I was younger, so I wanted to see it again. It also has some unaired episodes, which definitely makes it worth it. Finally, I've never seen St. Elsewhere, but i heard it was good back in the day, and I need a medical drama fix while waiting for ER Season 7 to come out in May. Unfortunately, I went back there today. After watching most of the second series of Doctor Who, I decided I wanted to see some of the older ones. So I used the same deal to pick up four DVDs of serials from the old show: The Three Doctors, Horror of Fang Rock, Earthshock, and Ghost Light. Not much to say about them since I haven't seen any of them yet, but I will mention that I was trying to get the best mix of Doctors possible (i.e. according to what Borders had). So in that respect, I think I did pretty good, getting to see six out of the first seven (sorry Sixth Doctor). And finally, something that didn't cause much damage, I bought Boomtown: Season 1 at FYE today for $10! I've seen this there before going for $20, but I still never got it. When I saw it today for $15, I finally decided to bite, and when I got to the register I was surprised to see that it only rang up for $10. $10 for 18 episodes is a pretty good deal, especially for a show that I hear is really good. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Just got The L Word: Season 1 today. My friend has been wanting me get this for a while now, as she says it's the best show on TV (this is, of course, after I tell her that 24 is). I usually say that it's too expensive, but I saw it at Borders today for only $30. Combine that with a 20% off coupon I had, and I managed to get it for $24 (coincidence?).
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Last week, I managed to do something that surprised even me. I actually found a 24 DVD that I didn't already have. I was browsing around at Best buy the other day, and near the season sets I saw a DVD entitled 24 Behind The Scenes: The Editing Process. Now, I knew this DVD existed, but as far as I knew, it was only released in Region 2. So the fact that it was released here is news to me (even the 24 wiki page still has it listed as TBA in Region 1). It was $15 (kind of a rip for only a 30-minute feature), but I honestly picked it up and bought it without even looking at the price.
And today, I went back to Best Buy to pick up Da Ali G Show: Da Compleet Seereez for only $30. I've been interested in getting this show for a while now, but I've just been waiting for the right time (aka the right price) to get it. Never seen the show before, but from what I hear about it, it sounds like something I would like. Also today, I went to Circuit City and picked up The Loop: Season 1 for $15. I remember this being one of the few new comedies that I liked last season, but for some reason (probably conflicted with another show on my schedule) I never watched that much of it. Since it's actually coming back for a second season, I figured I would pick this up to get prepped for the new season. Finally, I also picked up the new 24 Declassified novel, Vanishing Point, at Borders today for $7. I'm still in the middle of the third novel, Trojan Horse, so once I finish that and the fourth one (Cat's Claw), I'll probably start reading this one, since these are the only books I've been reading outside of school textbooks. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Spent way more than I intended to this week buying some TV DVD sets. They were all on sale at Best Buy, but I still managed to buy over $100 worth.
![]() First up, I bought The Pretender: Movie Edition for $20. I just bought and finished watching all the seasons of this show last year, so the only thing left for me to do was to get the TV movies that continued the series. Since they finally came out this month, I made sure to get them so I can finish the story once and for all. Next, I bought Newsradio: Season 4 and Season 5. Season 5 just came out this week, so Best Buy was selling all the other sets for only $18. Season 4 was the only other one I needed, so I bought that along with Season 5 for $30. I now have the complete series, so I'm now finishing up the rest of the sets (the Seasons 1&2 set is the only one I've watched so far). I also got Sleeper Cell: American Terror, which is the second season of the show. I honestly didn't think this show needed a second season (the first season wrapped up almost perfectly), but since it's there (and only selling for $20), I figured I might as well watch it. And finally, I got La Femme Nikita: Season 5 for $20 (it's only eight episodes though, so I still wouldn't say it's that great a deal). Unfortunately, I don't even have Season 4 yet (the cheapest I've seen it going for is about $82), so I won't be watching this anytime soon. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I've gotten two TV DVD sets since my last post.
First off, I got Sliders: Seasons 1 & 2 at Wal-Mart for $20. This was one of my favorite shows ever while growing up, so it'll be great to see it again on the greatness that is DVD. I've probably would have gotten this set sooner, but it's always been so expensive. It first came out for $90, and then it had dropped to about $60, so needless to say I was surprised to see it for $20. I haven't watched any of it yet, but just looking at the packaging and stuff, I can't see how this ever sold for that high (unless the version has different packaging or something). And just last week, I got Bones: Season One at Target for $20. Never seen the show, but it does look kinda interesting, and $20 for a show so recent didn't seem like a bad deal at all. FELIPE NO ![]() |
Damn, lots of stuff obtained since my last post. I'll try to list it all, but I know I'll probably forget something.
The 4400 - The Third Season: Summer TV is about to kick into gear soon, so I picked this up to reacquaint myself with this show before Season 4 starts next month. I felt this was needed, since I didn't really pay enough attention to it while it was on TV (mainly because I had watched the first two seasons on DVD only, so it was a different experience watching it on TV). If this same thing winds up happening again with Season 4, I might just to only watching this show on DVD. ER - The Complete Seventh Season: my second favorite show of all time comes out with another season on DVD, so of course I'.m there to buy it on the first day of release. Target had it on sale for $30, so I bought it there and as soon as I got home I started watching it. I've been watching at least two episodes a day, though on at least one day I watched up to four. I'm currently up to the fifth disc, and I only have four more episodes to go. Once I'm done, I go back into withdrawal until about December, when Season 8 will most likely come out. Gilmore Girls - The Complete Sixth Season: I've been slowly collecting this show on DVD to watch one day, so when this was on sale for around $20 I quickly picked it up. I've seen quite a few episodes on TV, but I've never seen it completely from beginning to end, which is why I'm getting the DVDs. Now that I know the show has ended, I'll probably start watching this show once Season 7 comes out on DVD. The Shield - Seasons 2-4: Another one of my favorite shows of all time, I've been collecting this one as well just to rewatch one day. So far I only had the first season, which was on sale for around $20 some time ago, but once I found out Circuit City had the first four seasons on sale for $18 each, I had to get 2-4. I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching them anytime soon, but it's just nice to have them for whenever I want to rewatch them one day. Veronica Mars - The Complete Second Season: I saw one episode of this show on TV one day after the first season had already aired, and I thought it was pretty good. This lead to me eventually buying the first season on DVD when it was on sale a while back. Since the second season was on sale about a month ago, I decided to buy it as well, knowing I would eventually get to watching them one day. Now that it seems like the show is going to be cancelled, I'll probably wait for the third season to come out and then watch it all in one go, as I did with other shows such as Arrested Development and The Pretender. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
