I don't understand how people can claim they "dated" someone for a year plus that they had never met in person. If you just know each other virtually, it could be entirely a lie and at best I'd call someone friends. I suppose this goes in with the "Love or Sex?" thread, but if there's no physical component of a relationship - I'm not even talking sex, I'm talking seeing the person and knowing they exist - it's worthless. I'm not talking existing relationships that become long-distance and people try to hold on to - at least they know they're holding on to a real person. Claiming that you are "dating" someone you've never met is complete bullshit in my eyes.

I agree with you now, but then I would have argued about it. Everyone has different ideas about what makes a relationship.
