Hmm, I'm thinking a little differently than some of the recent posts:

Spoilers for Heroes 1.10:
I'm seeing parallels between Peter and Sylar (Gabriel) instead of Hiro and Sylar.

Besides the obvious Biblical naming and the alliteration of their names (PP, GG), both Peter and Gabriel have this longing to be great. Heck, you may not even call it longing--they both feel that they were meant to be greater, it's their destiny. They both have powers that can't realize full potential without being around others with powers (Gabriel knows when things are broken which is handy in a clock repair shop, Peter is a emphatic person and that's handy with working as a nurse in a hospice.)

Not to mention they both look sort of alike.

I don't know, I've kind of gotten the vibe that if Peter doesn't watch out he could be tempted into doing evil. I'd like if they'd go that route, instead of having Nathan be that person. It's totally plausible to me.

On that note however
More 1.10 spoilers!:
Hiro/Sylar reminds me of Harry Potter/Voldemort. I am not the only one who thought this am I? Heck, Gabriel's speech with Suresh totally reminded me of the Dumbledore/Tom Riddle scene in Book 6.

Also, it could possibly explain why in Episode 9:
Spoilers for 1.09 and 1.10:
Peter couldn't suddenly gain a crapload of powers around Sylar. He may not be able to copy powers that Sylar stole, and he'd only be left with that odd power of sensing when things are broken. However, what good would that do in a fight...I don't know, I could be totally wrong on this.

Something I read on another board though that I found highly interesting:
Not really a spoiler...:
Quite a few of the people with powers have some sort of brain/mental issue. Matt has dyslexia but can read minds. Niki has a power and apparently a multiple personality (does alcoholism count?), Claire had some problem with her chromosomes or however her mom put it, Issac is addicted to heroin. Charlie has the super memory but she has a blood clot in her brain.

Wonder if they're going to do more with this later on.

Click to see a Preview of next weeks Episode
For Epsiode 11:
Nathan/Peter are cool (as usual imo) but my favorite scene is the one between Mr.Bennet and Sylar. Both are creepy and I like the way they're both trying to get the upperhand. It's amusing...in a creepy way.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Grail, you are not the only one. I do not think Nathan is evil at all. He may be a big asshole and he may do things that seem messed up, but I think he has good intentions. When he destroyed the painting that Peter wanted, I don't think it was because he wanted the cheerleader dead, it was because he wanted his brother alive.

He's an alpha male and I think soon things are going to go (more) out of control for him and he's going to be screwed up because he seems to be the person who needs to have control over his life and the life of the people he feels he's responsible for.

Personally, I feel Peter is more in danger of being evil than Nathan. I still think the similarities between Peter and Sylar are not coincidental. And now we have this strange dream...

Also, in case this might interest anyone, I found a set of interviews by the writers at a site called Comic Book Resources. They answer a lot of questions that people have and they give hints of things to come. Personally, they're not that spoilery...but if you are a spoilerphobe and wish to know NOTHING, then don't read them.

CBR Interview (Week 11).

It's been weekly so far, I'm not sure if it will continue to be weekly until the show airs again.

I do have a question for anyone who is a comic book enthusiast because because I totally missed out on this reference.
Maybe a Spoiler? Who know!:
Quote:
Looking forward to that. Alright, let’s move off Sylar for a bit and talk about some of the other cast members. We learned a lot about Niki's origin in “Six Month’s Ago,” but at the same time, it created many more questions. Was Jessica the one with powers who managed to "leap" into Niki's body (like DC's Jericho - you can ask Jeph who that is...)? Is Niki just a damaged psyche from what she's experienced? Or is she really two people?

Dude, first of all – we know who Jericho is. We’ve read the Wolfman/Perez “Teen Titans.” We were thinking more about Malice possessing Polaris (You can ask Jeph who that is.) But, we digress…
Malice possessing Polaris? What?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't think that's Peter's real motivation. I don't think he wants to save the world, so much as wanting to be someone important. Someone greater than he was when the show started. Hiro on the other hand seems to be more pure and selfless.

Peter is all about this "This is my destiny, I was meant for something greater than what I am now, blah blah blah." Guess who else was saying the same thing not too long ago?

Sylar.

I'm sure if someone wanted to take advantage of Peter and make him go more towards his dark side, they easily could by playing up to Peter's need to do great things. It'd be cool if the writers go in that direction, and I'm hoping they do. I think that they're already hinting at it with Sylar appearing in Peter's dreams. Well see though.

The Haitian couldn't stop Nathan from flying away...I don't think his power works for people whose powers don't have some sort of mental association.

I hope Nathan doesn't do that though, or if he does I hope he'd survive because Nathan is already my favorite character and I hope they don't have that sort of redemption through sacrfice arc for him.

SenorKaffe- I hope that happens. That would be so awesome, yet sad, but awesome nevertheless.

Okay, I guess I'm the only loser who rewatched the promo for next weeks episode but.

Spoiler:
HRG is back in New York with Issac...it's the shot right after zombie!Simone is all like "Wanna shot me again, huh huh huh?"

Also I caught that HRG was trying to make it seem like it was all the Hatian's fault. That Thompson guy at the end of the episode was all like "Man, I can't believe the Hatian did that right in front of you, boy are you stupid for not figuring that out."

So I wouldn't count him out on the shows. Not spoilers but just speculation.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I just have to say that this show is where the action is. This latest episode shows just how much potential this show has. The story can keep moving fast, but yet not too fast, and at the same time be chock full of action/drama. I can't believe people like something like LOST over this...

In non-comparison news, this episode was great to revealing Bennett's seemingly contradictary actions. Now it makes (much) more sense. The biggest question is, where does this all lead? Shortly summarized, there is an organization that takes in "Heroes" and tracks/catalogs them. And they want to keep this all secret, at the pain of death for their employees.

The biggest question is, what is this company trying to accomplish? I'm sure they are not trying to be the Hero-pedia library. And why do they "hire/enlist" some of the Heroes, but not others?
What would you do if you knew there were people like Ted or Sylar out there? Shouldn't people with potentially dangerous powers be watched to make sure they aren't endangering the lives of innocent bystanders?

Abducting people, brainwashing them and tracking them like animals in the wild is not very cool, but is it necessary? Would/Could these superhumans deal with being treated this way? What about their families?

Claude mentioned vivisection, and really I think that's crossing the line between morally grey and just wrong, especially considering that it doesn't seem that people who get taken by HRG's organization don't have a choice in the matter.

However, if I had a family and we lived right next to Ted, and I found out about his radioactive powers...well...I'd be pretty damn scared, and I'm not sure if I'll be too sympathetic to a guy who has the potential to give everyone surrounding him cancer...especially if he may not be able to control it.

I think that Ted is on a deathlist of sorts. Also, they kill people with powers deemed to dangerous and/or out of control. Which then makes me conflicted. It's not Ted's fault that he was born with this ability.

I think it's interesting to notice how HRG and his boss refer to superpowered humans as "them". Almost as if superhumans are not human any more. Which would probably make it easier on their conscience to handle invading these people's privacy so much.

Frankly, all of this is the reason why I think HRG is still not completely good. I mean he felt moved to do something about this when it regarded someone he knew and cared about. But ethically, it's still pretty grey.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Here's an interview from Tim Kring:

Quote:
Kring added: "We could have new people and new storylines and new ideas and new threats and new bad guys and new heroes. So I would prepare the audience for that idea, that it's not just a continuing serialized storyline about only these people. It's a little more the 24 model than the Lost model."

...Kring also confirmed that some of the current heroes just might not survive this season, but added: "Many of your favorites will live to fight again."

Yesterday's episode was kickass!

I heard the Canadian broadcast got the Japanese intro, so I was expecting that and didn't get it! Come on show, you've never shied away from the language barrier before.

Major, major props to the actors who play Sylar and Mohinder. Their scenes were the highlight of the show. Frankly, this episode could have been the Sylar and Mohinder show (guest starring Peter) and I would not have missed anyone much. With that said, I must have watched these scenes at least four times. Still awesome.

Episode 18 stuff:
When Sylar was taunting Mohinder about his father and leaning into the gun, like he was daring Mohinder to shoot him, but knowing that Mohinder wasn't going to pull the trigger? Wow!

Then making me (and from the looks of it, Mohinder) almost buy into his "Give me salvation" plea before erupting with "GIVE ME THE DAMN LIST SO I CAN SINK MY TEETH IN! *cries*"

Oh and the line before he let himself free...about Sylar not begging for his life, but offering Mohinder his. Wow, perfect. Mohinder held himself together pretty well because Sylar had the creepy notch turned to 10 there. I also liked the line reversal and the actor's delivery of "You might do some good before you die."

The only way the could have made me happier and even more creeped out is if they showed what happened to Mohinder before Peter came knocking. Which I'm not totally counting out, cause the show has backtracked and shown what we hadn't seen before.

Moving on to something else:

preview spoilers:
I could barely register the preview they showed, but was that Claire with brown hair? If so, it's not a bad change, she is totally rocking the brunette look.

EDIT: Yep it's her.

She looks SO much more mature like this.

Oh and...
Spoilers Regarding Episode 20:
I heard that Episode 20 is going to be set in the future. Which I can't wait for, I almost wish they would have made that Episode 19, but with all the cliffhangers left by 18, I don't think people would appreciate the payoff being delayed an episode, especially since APRIL 23rd?! Blah! I want to see badass!Hiro!

Hey, there is one thing that I completely forgot about during the last few episodes of heroes that is an important part to the whole New York exploding thing.

Issac Mendez made 14 copies of "9th Wonders" before Hiro found him dead in his apartment back in episode two. It episode 19 is coming up, and we all know, I remember seeing it, Micah had one copy of that comic book way back in the earlier episodes.

The bomb exploding, Issac dying...they are all coming close to happening here in the next coming episodes...so my question is, if Issac knows he's going to die, why did he pen that comic instead of trying to prevent his own death? And furthermore, when are they going to show him drawing it?
This is only because I was watching this episode the other day, but when Issac meets up w/ Hiro, he sees Hiro's comic book and remarks that he just sent the issue to the printers. Which, makes sense if I have the timeline right. It's like a week, two weeks until Nov. 8th?
