Ah, how I loved sitting on the porch, scaring trick or treaters. Unfortunately, we don't get enough of 'em where we live now for it to be worth it anymore.
Back when I started, I just wore a black robe with black gloves, and a hood that covered my face but was visible through. Not particularly ideal, but it worked. One of my favorite scares with this was when a friend of mine came to the door with a large group of probably 10-20 teenagers. Some of the girls were scared and hung back, so the guy I knew came forward and felt my face. Pretending that I
was fake, he told the others that it was safe to come forward. I waited until they were leaving to jump up and scared the crap out of them.
Later on I upgraded to skeleton gloves, added straw sticking out of my sleeves, and my favorite addition -
one of these beauties. As the kids would approach, I'd pump the blood, and give them a moment of watching in horror before jumping up at them.
Of course, I always felt pretty bad when a 5 or 6 year old would come along. =/ I'd go out of my way to not scare them, but just by being there I kinda already had... And I don't their accompanying parents appreciated my being there, either.

Sure they weren't just Jehovah's Witnesses? Still, they should have at least had their lights off or something.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
