Ecco - Songs of Time - st. gabriel's mask is a very solid piece of new-age ambience. The atmosphere is enrapturing, and there are some delicate, memorable melodic lines spread out here and there which add to the underwater mood. Great stuff!
I've been waiting for a long time to nominate Garden Original Soundtrack - Courage, since it comes from a relatively new release. This track is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion; the melody is charming and memorable, and the instrumentation is simply intoxicating. The piece maintains a good tempo and fluidity through the awesome developments, which in turn capitalise on the already-awesome melodies. Classic Anze stuff! I don't really remember RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (Game Rip) - Galaxy Trooper from the BSC---and I can see why. This one doesn't do anything for me, sadly . The melodies are cheesy and undeveloped, and the quasi-disco vibe is a tad awkward. Sorry, Crash~! S4 League Original Sound Track - Vivace - SuperSonic is silly and fun, but definitely not something I'd classify as good music. But putting snobbish elitisms aside, this is really entertaining in an absurd kind of way! Not sure whether this'll get points...but on the whole, I enjoyed it! Shining Wind Music Collection - Five Beast Generals doesn't pack much punch considering its ferocious title and fast tempo. Nothing engages me, and the instrumentation seems a tad clumsy. I don't know, I'm probably just pulling at straws here, but overall I don't care for it. (another sorry to whoever nom'd!) Another spacey kind of SotW tune, whodathunkit. STAR SOLDIER [Vanishing Earth] ORIGINAL & ARRANGED SOUNDTRACK - SHIVER (MISSION5) is far less interesting than the other spacey tunes I've encountered though. [not that I'm judging it based on this classification---I'm not] I don't mind the build-up to the final melody (0:50), but damn that melody sucks. Soured the whole experience, unforunately!Technictix Remix Vol. 1 - Cell-Phone Boom is, simply put, enjoyable. I love orion's description for this one: "synthy fireworks"---that sums it up quite well. Not catchy like I had hoped, but it's fun nonetheless. Transport Tycoon Deluxe (Game Rip) - Cruise Control is a bumbling piece of sly jazz, a style I usually like. But there's not really a good melody or "quirk" factor to carry this. The final 30 seconds or so are really good, though! Overall, an average track. sorry POINT! please forgive me 3 points: Garden Original Soundtrack - Courage 2 points: Ecco - Songs of Time - st. gabriel's mask 1 point: S4 League Original Sound Track - Vivace - SuperSonic 4th: Technictix Remix Vol. 1 - Cell-Phone Boom 5th: Transport Tycoon Deluxe (Game Rip) - Cruise Control 6th: STAR SOLDIER [Vanishing Earth] ORIGINAL & ARRANGED SOUNDTRACK - SHIVER (MISSION5) 7th: Shining Wind Music Collection - Five Beast Generals 8th: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (Game Rip) - Galaxy Trooper Pretty bad week, IMO. Though I guess when I think about it, I liked 4 of them so that's not too bad. But I think the bad of the bad outweighed the good of the good! (I'm annoyed I couldn't squeeze in a point for Technictix) ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Nomination #13
Composer: Yuriko Nakamura Album Title: Schrödinger's Cat - Die Katze von Schrödinger Game Soundtrack Track Title: MU ~Crisis in the Ancient City~ [Crisis] Track Number: 4 Year: 1996 Catalog Number: SRCL-3682 Additional Information: Not so much a crisis track as a huge wham of fun jazz rock. I've had it stuck in my head for days, so I thought I'd nominate it! (Albums that have had a gold winner before are allowed to be nominated again, right..?) Edit: About the Hülsbeck nomination; I hate to be indecisive, but I don't really care one way or the other. One side of the argument is the possibility of this becoming a regular thing (Hülsbeck noms); the other side is that it's been a while since we've had one. *shrug* There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Ooh, nice result! Really pleased Ecco placed first, it's a great track.
![]() but where's the "SuperSonic" love??? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
