I love the down-tempo rhythms featured in Apidya Soundtrack - Sewer's Blast, and the delicate, futuristic melodic developments are just plain classy. The guitar gives the track a nice edge, too; ultimately a great listen, but not one I'd revisit that frequently (it's lacking some sort of flair or something).
I love some middle-eastern flavours in my VGM, and Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Fight in the Lobby executes it nicely, with a great emphasis on atmosphere and action. Another really enjoyable piece; this one kept me hooked a little bit longer though. Major <3's for Drawn to Life. The music, too, is awesome. Drawn to Life (Game Rip) - City Funk is one of the weaker area themes, methinks, as its lacking the colour and vividness that make the game's music so wholesome and agreeable. It's still a really interesting and intriguing listen, but not one I'm that into. I think I needed more melody. A goofy for Koji Hayama. Game Music Is Dead ~THE SUCCESSIVE KINGS~ - Super Takarazuka 3 (TAKARAZUKA) has some of the most awesome vocal work ever, and the backing music is very Hayama-like. Not one of my favourite Hayama pieces, but I'm hoping I can give it a point since it's HAYAMA and crazy-ass chipmunk voices.Oooh, hello there. Garou Densetsu WILD AMBITION Arrange Sound Trax - 11th Street (Terry Bogard)'s funk hooked me right from the get-go, and managed to keep me entertained throughout (no small feat). A very good tune, but still, the developments didn't "thrill" me as much as I would have liked them to. Heart Session - Technical Power is my favourite arrangement from the Heart Session release. It's got that cool 80's disco dance vibe down pat, replete with crispy, snazzy instruments and fitting, accessible developments. The sax sections are exhilarating, the guitar touches add an awesome edge and the piano interlude is a brilliant addition. The best disco VGM I've ever heard~! Am I silly for never having listened to any OutRun music? Yes, I do think I am very silly. OutRun 20th Anniversary Box - Rush a Difficulty 2006 Arrange Ver. is insanely enjoyable, with cohesive progressions and great instrumental touches. This sounds like it'd be perfect driving music, too, so surely that's worth a point! I can't believe I still haven't gotten around to downloading some of Dubble's mega-rips. The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (SNES Game Rip) - Stage 4 - Pete's Peak is like a big slap in the face for me, 'cause it's kind of awesome. It sounds whimsically heroic and courageously silly in its execution, which gives me a Disney-esque fuzzy feeling~ Really pleasant, but considering this week's competition, I'm afraid this won't get a point. ![]() i r do point time nao??/ 3 points: Heart Session - Technical Power 1 point: Garou Densetsu WILD AMBITION Arrange Sound Trax - 11th Street (Terry Bogard) 1 point: OutRun 20th Anniversary Box - Rush a Difficulty 2006 Arrange Ver. 1 point: Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Fight in the Lobby 5th: Game Music Is Dead ~THE SUCCESSIVE KINGS~ - Super Takarazuka 3 (TAKARAZUKA) 6th: The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (SNES Game Rip) - Stage 4 - Pete's Peak 7th: Apidya Soundtrack - Sewer's Blast 8th: Drawn to Life (Game Rip) - City Funk Fantastic week! I know it seems cheap of me to give my nom 3 points and leave some noms out of my point list, but oh well, I really did enjoy it more than the others~! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Pretty decent result. I do agree that "Sewer's Blast" is pretty damn cool. I'm hurt by Cold Winter's low placing, though. =/
