I remember playing the first Boktai game and being reasonably impressed with the GBA-ey quasi-gothic music. Boktai 3 Sabata's Counterattack (Game Rip) - Solar Tree Yggdrasill carries the same sort of sound and tone to what I'm accustomed to from the series, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Doesn't really do anything to wow me though, sadly.
Legend of Game Music 2 ~Platinum Box~ - POWER DRIFT - LIKE THE WIND (B Course) has an awesome old-school feel going for it. I love the pacing and tempo, too. But that's all the good I can extract. The rest of the compositional features are either underdeveloped or not emphasised enough to warrant any interest. The melodic development is intriguing, I suppose, but on the whole the piece didn't really agree with me. Maple Story, huh? Never heard any of this game's music before. Maple Story (Game Rip) - Tree Dungeon has a gorgeous sense of introspectiveness going for it; the thoughtful instrumentation and subtle yet effectual progressions in melodic layering really make this a sweet little ditty. Very innocuous, and as a result extremely accessible. Me lieks~ I love the Okage soundtrack! (And that game, too; I bought it and completed it sometime last year) The musical score was also surprisingly impressive, and fit the quirky locales and situations really well. Okage: Shadow King Original Soundtrack - Vampire Evil King Battle isn't what I'd call a personal favourite, although it's still a respectable attempt at Okage-esque battle music. I urge people to check this score out; quality stuff contained therein. I might nominate something in the future, too. Props to the nominator~ Sekaiju no MeiQ Super Arrange Version - Battle - Destruction Begets Decay is quality rock, there's no question. I can appreciate the technical production values and rock elements (I sense a bit of Spanish exoticism, too, quite nice). Didn't really connect with any of the melodies, although that's excusable. Solid hit of battle track rock. (+ the brass usage is ++) Storm of Progear Original Soundtrack - To the Blue Sky -Stage 1- is another really solid track, but it doesn't do anything to wow me. I love what's going on this piece, and really wanted to be wow!ed by something. But as it stands, it's a great listen that'll probably get a point. Oldfield, huh? Interestin' to hear what this piece is like. Tr3s Lunas - Tr3s Lunas Is interesting without being above the average. The instrumentation's nice and the song progresses very fluidly. Bundled with potential, but it doesn't really score. Yee-haw! (<--Anybody who doesn't use that when describing this track is weird) Yogurting Original Soundtrack - The Student Council is Very Busy! is from such an amazing soundtrack; upbeat, lively Korean MMORPG compositions instantaneously agree with me, seemingly. This one one of the soundtrack's many, many highlights. The infectious, wild-west melody and typical yet satisfactory harmonica are so full of vigor and character. Major props to the nominator (Crash, I believe). I hate to compare songs, but this one's so similar to Mitsuda's "Cactus" it's insane. (This one's better though) PO*NT T*ME 3 points: Yogurting Original Soundtrack - The Student Council is Very Busy! 1 point: Maple Story (Game Rip) - Tree Dungeon 1 point: Storm of Progear Original Soundtrack - To the Blue Sky -Stage 1- 1 point: Okage: Shadow King Original Soundtrack - Vampire Evil King Battle 5th: Sekaiju no MeiQ Super Arrange Version - Battle - Destruction Begets Decay 6th: Boktai 3 Sabata's Counterattack (Game Rip) - Solar Tree Yggdrasill 7th: Tr3s Lunas - Tr3s Lunas 8th: Legend of Game Music 2 ~Platinum Box~ - POWER DRIFT - LIKE THE WIND (B Course) Another solid week, people! ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
