I'm sold after hearing that Kingdom Hearts II will actually loop. It'd be so awesome if (like Godai + Msia said) Shimomura upgraded the synth quality of the KH(& II) soundtrack(s). That would also be a welcome addition. The unreleased tracks sound intriguing, too.
If only a KH remix album was released. I can see a jazz-fusion and/or celtic album going over quite nicely. Edit: So... KH OST: 2 discs KHII OST: 2(3?) discs KH:CoM: 2 discs Unreleased tracks: 1/2 I'm confused. =/ Jam it back in, in the dark. |
And your guess about the disc spanning sounds fairly accurate.
Edit: How about this?: Kingdom Hearts Symphonic Sweet. Oops, I mean suite. There's nowhere I can't reach.

A track list has been added thanks to "KujaFFman". I'm very excited about this box now; the Kingdom Hearts II Original Soundtrack increased to 4 discs?! And some new tracks?! Forget all my biases regarding the music. No change to the Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack is visible. Also, disc 9 intrigues me with some completely new tracks. Overall this update has just given me a much needed enthusiasm boost. Shimomura FTW. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Whoa, that's some awesome packaging. This is shaping up to be one hell of a box set; I think it'll obliterate the FFXI Premium Box.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
*sigh of relief* I'm glad that the CoM section is Re: CoM too...hopefully the tracks which are repeated on the KHII OST will be remixed in some innovative ways.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Well I've listened to most of the box, and it's a mixed bag for me. I'm a bit disappointed with a majority of the tracks from Re: CoM; I feel in many cases Shimomura could've done so much more with arrangement, 'cause some sound oh-so similar to their original versions. The quality is nice, though; I do sense a slight improvement over some originals.
The KHII tracks are even better than before, now . It's just a much more enjoyable listen now that they're all looped. The various new tracks hidden among the OST are decent...they didn't blow me away nor did they stick out like a throbbing sore thumb, they blended in nicely with the rest of the music. As for the new unreleased tracks (from KHII), one word: awesome. They're all great, and there's not a sour one in the bunch. Out of all of them, I'm particularly fond of "Deep Anxiety" and "Happy Holidays!". The latter more-so because of it's extremely infectious melody which always brings a smile on my face, and it paints a cheerful yet rowdy Christmassy scene really well...having said that, it sort of reminds me of "Pirate's Gigue" regarding the structure of the track. I'm glad Shimomura got her head around why she didn't compose this track and "What a Surprise!" for Christmas Town in the first place. Anyway, that's my two cents. Overall, a really great box set with only a few disappointments. Shimomura matching her best, IMO. FELIPE NO |
