5 Sound Album 'yukar' - soldiers is a typically memorable and emotional instrumental from Jun Maeda. The interplay between the maracas, flute, strings and guitar is absolutely captivating and conveys a lovely sense of regret, longing and determination. It helps that the melody almost exceeds the composer's usual standards, which is no mean feet.

I don't mind CHAOSFIELD SOUND TRACK - coccus -phase 2-, though it's not something I'd go out of my way to listen to or something I'd give points to in a videogame music weekly event. Still, I like the drive and melody, even if it does get terrible repetitive (needed a break in the middle or something).

I need to be in just the right mood to get into this Diamante guy's music. Can't say I'm in the right mood at the moment. Flower - Original Soundtrack from the Video Game - Sailing on the Wind meanders more than it delivers (save for the ending, which is really nice), my primary problem with the music from Flower, and is just not fun or enjoyable for active listening purposes. Pleasant, but entirely insubstantial.

Mickey's Speedway USA (N64 Game Rip) - New Mexico has a strange melody and I'm not sure whether I like or dislike it. The rest of the track pushes it into positive territory, however, with a bouncy, engaging and off-the-wall development between the loops.

Poco Dopo Mezzanotte Enchanted Music - Original Complete Soundtrack for A Quiet Weekend in Capri - Arena - live has a oddly muted and passive sound which I can't really get behind, and there aren't really any hooks to hold onto. The acoustic guitar is nice with its ethnic flavour, though when the synth came in at 2:08 I was really left scratching my head with this one. :/

I'm a huge Hideki Yamamoto fan, why have I not heard of this soundtrack release. Princess Knights Original Soundtrack and Arrange - Crash is neat, interesting and memorable all in one swiftly satisfying package. Good stuff!

Technictix Remix Vol. 3 - Blue shackles is sexy, sensual and cheesy all at the same time (which would make for an odd sex experience). The jazz organ licks are great when they appear, and help keep the song alive for the most part. Overall though, despite the intriguing mood presented, I can't say I like the music a great deal.

wow I didn't know that about "Forest of Illusion", that is a shame (though really doesn't diminish its awesomeness in any way). Reminds me of the percussion loop found in both Mitsuda's "Old Smudged Map" and SimCity 4's "Terrain". In any case, I'm surprised by how much I like Trine Original Soundtrack - Crypt of The Damned; it's the first Trine piece I've truly enjoyed. Gorgeous atmosphere and a heart-wrenching tone and melody. Music box finish seems to satirise the whole piece though, argh I wish it weren't included.

sex and music boxes? in MY point?!

3 points: 5 Sound Album 'yukar' - soldiers
2 points: Princess Knights Original Soundtrack and Arrange - Crash
1 point: Trine Original Soundtrack - Crypt of The Damned
4th: Mickey's Speedway USA (N64 Game Rip) - New Mexico (sorry )
5th: CHAOSFIELD SOUND TRACK - coccus -phase 2-
6th: Technictix Remix Vol. 3 - Blue shackles
7th: Flower - Original Soundtrack from the Video Game - Sailing on the Wind
8th: Poco Dopo Mezzanotte Enchanted Music - Original Complete Soundtrack for A Quiet Weekend in Capri - Arena - live

Good week! I'm so hunting down the Princess Knights soundtrack now by the way. Trine..eh, I still need more good stuff, to be sold.

How ya doing, buddy?

Wow orion is this the first time you've ever had two consecutive golds?! In any case, congratulations!

I seem to be missing something in "Arena", I just can't get behind it. Maybe my mp3 is distorted. Yeah, that must be it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Different music for different people. I agree it's not mind-blowing, yet I like how it mixes Middle-Eastern and '70s prog rock genres, even emulating the low fidelity recording quality of the era. Not coming from a big name composer or a soundtrack of the year is often more difficult for a song to do good in SotW, but I believe it's the essence of the event and it's worth the risk of nominating underdogs.
Oh, you nominated it, Rimo! This is the first of your nominations that I haven't liked in quite a while. I guess why I'm so critical of it is that I like the idea, I'm just not a fan of the final product. Looks like your risk paid off to some extent at least~

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
