You must have read wrong, I meant 3.71 is unstable, 3.51 isn't (as much? =P). But if 3.40 OE can play the current games now, then that's cool. Good luck.

Every PSP (phat or slim) on any firmware can be downgraded with the Pandora. You'll need an extra PSP with 1.5 homebrew (custom firmware) to create the Pandora battery/memory card.

[Guide] Unbrick or Downgrade any PSP using the Pandora Battery - QJ.NET Forums

And if you're going to downgrade the slim, use Despertar del Cementerio V3

I was speaking idiomatically.

I must have worded it wrong. You also need the Pandora battery to downgrade the slim. Just that you'll have to use Despertar del Cementerio V3 when creating a Pandora memory stick.

I'm assuming you know how to enable USB mode. Place the Saved Data folder downloaded from where ever into the following directory: X (being your memory card): PSP - SAVED DATA

Simple as that! =O

How do I use usbhost with 3.52m33? Or do I have to upgrade to 3.71?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

To check the firmware of your PSP, go to the far left of the menu: System Settings - System Information - System Software. If you have a m33 or OE next to the firmware, then you have a custom. But I'm assuming you just brought it through a normal retail, so you'll have to downgrade it using the Pandora battery. First you'll need to find someone with a fat PSP capable of homebrew in order to continue.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That would work, but I'd do it only if I trusted my soldering skills.

Anyways, this is probably a really really odd question, but does FFVIII work on the PSP now? As in, does it not freeze anymore? Also, if I have to change the GameID, how can I change the ID of the game save, if that's possible.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Seems the link is dead.
All it takes is 5 seconds on google and common sense to find the link: PSP Screenshot plug-in for 3.71 M33 » PSP Slim Hacks

Anywho, I started playing my PSX games on my m33 firmware. And before I play, it asks me if I want to convert as I previously played them in the OE firmware. Should I or should I not convert?

CSO is a compressed ISO. I don't believe you can compress an already compressed file further than it already is.

There's a ripped version that only has certain songs. I think it comes to less than a gb. Search PSPISO.com, I'm sure you'll find it.

It doesn't seem to be a firmware compatibility issue anymore, as it is a rejection of the gameID (if that makes any sense) under the popstation loader.

Most people have solved the issue by changing the gameID of the eboot file from the original FFVIII game ID to SLPS02180 (which is Dino Crisis' gameID).

Others reported that using SLPS02180 as the gameID on 3.40 tends to be the ultimate fix.

More info here and here.
O.O That's the answer I wanted 2 pages back! But thanks.

Any idea how the gameID prevents the game from freezing?

All you need is the ISO or the CSO.

Place any of those files into the X:ISO (X being the ROOT of your memory card. And if you don't have the folder ISO, make one).

You can have multiple games in the ISO folder.

The PSP - GAME(150) is for homebrew, or emulators.

You don't need Devhook. I think you just didn't enable NO-UMD (assuming you don't have a UMD inside your UMD slot).

Hold R when turning on your PSP, that would direct you to recovery mode.

Configuration - UMD MODE: Sony NP9660

Oh, and the files you downloaded are the files INSIDE an ISO. You'll have to manually make that into one. I don't know how, you'd better just download another full image from pspiso.com

This rarely happens so I'm pretty sure this wouldn't help you but, make sure the ISO filename isn't too long, and doesn't have weird characters.

iR Shell 3.8: now with PSOne 2-Player Adhoc support - PlayStation Portable News - PSP Updates

The new IRshell supports PSOne 2-Player Adhoc!

Sad thing is, I can't think of any multiplayer PS1 games that Sony hasn't rehashed remade for the PSP.

Yup. The compressed ISO lags like a bitch. This is only coming from personal experience though, and it might have been my compressor. But you're better off with the ISO.

When you're torrenting, it should give you the type of file you're downloading. If not, you can research the file size (of the ISO/CSO) and compare. Besides, I think GTA is the only game that has trouble with compression since all my other games are all CSO.

Your PSP wouldn't be a Pandora unless you have a Magic Memory Stick first, if I'm not mistaken. So I don't you have anything to worry...

Here's a well organized tutorial ON VIDEO! =D to help you...

Could it be possible to get a backup of the eeprom.bin (the file you get when you hit triangle), cause I think it's all universal.

Just found something:
Quote:
You can also restore a battery without having made a backup, by pressing SQUARE at step 6. This will generate a fake serial for your battery (0x12345678) which allows it to work normally, but there could be side-effects.
HOW-TO: Restore a battery used for unbricking - unbrick without buying a spare! - MaxConsole Forums
